Would it have made more sense to make Hadley Lark a skylark? Maybe. However she also has more than one atlas moth tattooed on her. Sara just has a lot of big cat energy

Hadley: “Looking for Alaska” type character but from her perspective and her personal traumas are not used as someone else’s growth

Sara: do you ever want to scream and cry and give up? But you don’t? Because you have responsibilities

Molly: childhood/inner-child

Ty: a very loose inspiration from old asylums I’d been studying

Jamie: starting over and being unknown

AG: “You know, the bird was really never the first thing I thought of when I thought of your name, I always use to picture the flower”

H: “what flower-? What, do you mean larkspur? When thinking of your then girlfriend, your mind went for the highly toxic plant and not the songbird?”

AG: “It’s quite a nice looking flower, and the bird is so plain it’s hardly notable”

H: “Thanks”

AG: “It’s intended as a compliment”

H: “Please stop complimenting me”

She’d once told me that that old converted lab felt like more of a family home to her than her mother’s house. I couldn’t blame her, that house is cold and quiet; and her mother is a step above a vegetable, staring forward at the tv while a nurse keeps her alive, fed, and the house from falling into shambles. Now, the lab has heat and smoke billowing out from every direction. Jamie Conn, a kid who’d been hired not that long ago for xer incredible mind and promise, stood in front of an ambulance cradling what was left of his hand.
