Dear future me

Dear future me, 

I guess I don’t really know who you are yet.  I’m at a point in my life when I’m deciding a lot of things that are going to affect who you’re going to turn out to be. I’d just like to tell you remember what you’ve been through and that you can handle anything.  Time will melt away your memories and even now I know  I’m trivializing all of my hard times from a few years ago.  Listen, I don’t want to say you’ve been through the worst because I don’t want what’s going to happen, but you’ve been so strong and you’ve never stopped believing.  Maybe it doesn’t get easier, it just gets different.  Anyway, please don’t forget why you’re doing what you’re doing.  Most of all, I hope you’re happy.  Please be happy.  That doesn’t mean that you’ll be euphoric all the time or you’ll never want something more but please...just improve what you can in your life and appreciate the little things.  Good luck with whatever you’re doing and don’t forget to floss your teeth.

Venus: What is love to you?

 Okay, so obviously I think there are differently forms of love but if I had to boil it down to one thing I would simply say intense care for someone else.  So...the first time that I really realized what was happening with my current crush was when she was talking about having to go to therapy and kind of implied that her family was emotionally abusive.  I just had this huge desire to...protect her?  And make sure nothing ever happened to her again. 

Of course I would care the same way about one of my friends, so how do I tell the difference between romantic and platonic love?  Good question but I guess that’s a subject for another ask meme. 

Polaris: Do you focus more on the past, the present, or the future?

I focus on lot on the future, to the point where I don’t live in the present enough.  I had a great example last night - I was so fixated on figuring out where I want to study abroad my senior year that I just couldn’t concentrate on my assignments that were due the next day even thought I was telling myself “okay, maybe deal with stuff for tomorrow rather than stuff for fall of 2016″.  I always try to be so far ahead that I can end up missing out on what’s actually happening. 

Cetus: Do you judge people for what they wear or how they express themselves?

I think I’d be lying if I said no.  I mean...I know that my appearance is a reflection of who I am and how I want to be seen but I also know that people have judged me for things that seem superficial and that’s not a great feeling.  So I think it’s basic human instinct but of course I try not to.
