The Human *carefully* cradles all those octo-babies in their hands, as they sob while calling each and every one of their daughters ‘beautiful’ and ‘perfect’, just the way they are because it’s the truth 😭💖

Like they do with Azul, they will hold the Human's face and cuddle into them. The tiny fry are confused as to why their Human parent is crying and they will try to fix the 'problem' through various hugs, cuddles, and kissing the Human's face to make them happy again. Ursulana will even try to pick up Azul's pen to gift it to the Human because writing contracts usually helps Azul calm down when he is crying over them. Even little Cerulina- who is not very sociable- will try little hugs and kisses to make her Human parent smile. It is quite precious.

Something that I have been wondering since seeing Azul's tiny daughters, and that you said they are kept in a tank at least when they are little. Are they escape artist like regular octopi when kept in aquariums. In particular, I imagine them just deciding that they want to go see mama, who may be asleep or in a different room. Do some escape more than the others? Are there any that would be the ringleaders and free their sisters? Probably would stress out poor Azul. Would he try to babyproof?

They are absolute escape artists, most Cecaelia are when they are young and they will absolutely try to escape if they feel the desire. Azul was notorious for figuring out how to escape his tank- and it subsequently resulted in most of his siblings falling prey to the ocean life- so he is determined to ensure his girls all survive. They don't make it easy on him.

From locks, to sealant on the sides of the tank, to adhesive, and even flat out chaining the tank shut, the girls can still find ways to escape. This is also why Azul has a proximity alarm on the tank that will immediately alert him if anything approaches or leaves the tank. Beyond the tank, Azul's office is magically sealed so even if the girls do escape the tank, they have a much harder time escaping his office.

Ursulana (Azul's bioluminescent carbon copy) and Cerulina (Betta fish look-alike) are the two ringleaders. Ursulana has the intelligence to figure out the locks and seals, Cerulina has the drive to escape and explore. Erythra (Nudibranch look-alike) is first to follow her sisters, the one who needs the most affection and support from her sisters and parents, so she won't stray far from them. Usually Thalassia (Jellyfish look-alike) is pulled along by her sisters because she is the weakest and slowest swimmer of the group.

Their goal in escape is simple; find their parents. Even if Azul is in the office itself- passed out at his desk- they are trying to get to him. Even if the Human isn't nearby or even in the ocean, they are searching. The girls want to be with their parents above all else. Jade is the reasonable substitute if they can't find the Human or Azul. Floyd is hidden from- this upsets Floyd DEEPLY.

Azul looks into it before his daughters hatch and he is more than floored to realize some Fae and even some Merfolk Royals are willing to pay more than half a billion to get their hands on his eggs. Two eggs sold would be 1 billion thaumarks. Azul is sick to his stomach once his eggs hatch because he realizes that he would have been willing to sell those eggs had he not adored the Human as much as he did. Now he can't even fathom giving up his beloved daughters and the fact is that he wouldn't sell one for even 1 billion or more. They are his girls and he is exceedingly protective of them. The only way anyone can get their hands on his girls is by killing him first and he will willingly Overblot to protect his daughters.

Ruggie is always thinking about how he can make more money for his Cackle and how he can feed his Cackle whenever he visits. There is a reason Grammy didn't kick Ruggie out and it is because he cares more than most Cackle members. He thought about what it would take to get him to sell his unborn child or the Human and the sheer price tag he could put on them almost won him over, but his love for the Human was stronger. The moment little Impisa is born is the moment Ruggie can't fathom selling his child. He is absolutely adoring of his daughter and the rest of the Cackle is too. None of them would ever entertain the thought of Impisa being sold and they will fight to the death to keep her safe.

Out of the HAE cast, who's the best and most compromised girl dad? I mean like, playing princess and having tea parties in a tutu type of compromised

Warnings; girl dads, who is best girl dad? Human=Reader, gn pronouns for Human (but Human is the other biological parent), monster-Human hybrids, the guys are platonic yanderes with their children,

Top of the list is Lilia.

Lilia already has no hesitation to be silly and fun, so he will 100% be taking his little Selene into town- fully dressed up for a tea party, crown, tutu, dress, ALL OF IT- and will stare down old war-buddies in his full fit while finding the exact tea blend his darling girl wants. He will be genuinely offended if the Human is selected for tea time over him. This man is dressing up as a princess to be saved by the 'Dragon' (Selene dressed up like Malefica). All the playtime, all the sillies, all the dancing, Lilia does it all.

Azul comes off as that typical mob boss type entity as a fully fledged adult. He has done well for himself and become a bit of a tycoon under the waves and on land, doing things both legal and not. He knows he has a target on himself, his Human lover, and his darling daughters. They are so small when they first hatch, their pearl-eggs small enough to fit well within the palm of his hand. He has to keep them safe, no matter what. Keeping them in a reinforced tank at that size is common for merfolk given the dangers of the ocean and the size of their young. He protects his girls and- whenever they are allowed out to play while he is working- they swim through his hair and use it to hide. Then there's Ursulana who is trying to use Azul's pen to help him write contracts. Azul will- behind closed doors- be the best father possible to his girls. Dress-up, tea-parties, letting them decide the fate of debtors, the works!

Riddle is 100% a girl dad and will go through immense effort to make his daughter Petal feel comfortable. He is a bit more stiff when it comes to tea-time and dress-up- as he never did such childish things with his mother- but he tries very hard. He will be embarrassed if anyone sees him after Petal puts makeup on his face, but he will never make Petal feel badly about it.

Ruggie was already the best playmate in his Cackle, being more concerned about the wellbeing of the cubs than other male Gnolls, so he will easily step into that role. From wrestling with Impisa to pretend parties, Ruggie is there for it all. He is also one hell of a defender, so Impisa will be free to play dress-up and run around with her father- both wearing tutus- without fear of anyone else trying to get involved or harming her. Ruggie may be a runt, but he will fight to the death for his little girl.

Does Azul put little jars, toys and other stuff in the tank to give his daughters some stimulation? That way they’re not bored (and also to make them less likely to try escaping because they’ll have something to do)

I remember that many people who work and study octopi tend to give them jars filled with treats to give the Octpi stimulation and to study their intelligence/learning capacity

He does! From little jars filled with snacks, to puzzle toys, even to various live prey for them to chase around (Small and harmless fish, of course). He does everything he can to keep the little Octofry interested and content in their tank. He has even given them a few tumble locks to try and figure out, but he doesn't want to encourage their escapes more than just his presence does. Of course, he opens up the tank and has a bunch of toys around his office for them while he works on contracts. The greatest interest that his girls have is actually in him and his contracts, so he will read the contracts to the girls as if they were bedtime stories. Tiny Ursulana is already trying to steal his pen to make changes to contracts as she sees fit, despite how young she is. Given they are infants, they are not verbal yet, but they show great promise in how well they seem to understand the contracts that he reads to them.

And also does floyd sulk when this happens and does he wind up needing to be comforted by the human?

They hide from Floyd because they flat out do not trust him. It is surprisingly hard to gain the trust of the girls, especially if their ringleader Ursulana does not trust. Typically, if Ursulana does not trust someone, the others won't trust either. Erythra- the Nudibranch colored one- is the first to trust because she is clingy towards those she views as adults, but the other girls are not so easy to sway. The others look to Ursulana for if they should trust someone or not, but some- like Azura (the Cuttlefish look-alike)- don't trust others even if Ursulana does. Usually, the easiest way to get the girls to trust someone is if Azul trusts that individual. Azul has shown the girls only Jade can really be trusted out of the Tweels.

Floyd sulks an extreme amount and gets really sensitive about being rejected by Azul's girls. In the Harem ending, the Octo-fry and the Eel-Fry are raised together in a blended family style. Floyd- surprisingly- is quite serious about ensuring the Fry are happy and safe, so when Azul's girls flat out reject Floyd- with the exception of Erythra, who adores Floyd- he is heartbroken and distraught. The Human has to comfort Floyd and eventually get the girls to see that Floyd can be mostly trusted. It is Floyd's goal to get Azura to trust him. He is nowhere close to achieving that goal.
