A high-pitched chorus of displeased squeals erupted from beneath the giant scaled beast that curled his lips in obvious displeasure. Deep acidic green eyes burning furiously set within an ebony colored face. White fangs glinting in the shadows of the room as deep amethyst scales moved protectively above the nest where the beast perched. Small puffs of black smoke rolled out of the open maw as claws clicked loudly against the flooring of the room.
Thunder rolled overhead in low booms that shook the very castle as the beast spread his wings. There were few who were so bold as to challenge a beast as powerful and intimidating as a Dragon, even fewer who were dumb enough to challenge an actively brooding Dragon. Despite the clear difference in power and sheer size, the one who caused this outcry of nature's rage incarnate stared unimpressed at the large reptile.
"Knock it off. They've already hatched, stop sitting on them and throwing a temper tantrum."
Malleus growled again at you, bearing his fangs in heated disapproval as you frowned at him. You were not impressed by this little spat of his and clearly- judging by the angry and indignant squeaks from beneath him- the Hatchlings were also unimpressed.
The large night Fae Dragon was throwing a fit about how little he got to brood over the Hatchlings. Most Dragon eggs took years, sometimes centuries, to hatch. Your eggs took minutes. Usually the timer on Dragon eggs were love and magic based, so the more love and magic put into them, the faster they hatched. When you brought those eggs into the world after hours of a painful delivery, your absolute love and adoration for them superseded all else. This love paired with three Dragons hovering in your delivery room allowed them hatch almost instantly.
Malleus was just upset he never got to actually brood over his eggs due to them not remaining eggs for very long.
This all led to you staring down a gigantic Dragon who was actively hissing at you all while keeping your shared Hatchlings trapped beneath him. Where most would be pissing themselves in terror at seeing the Dragon angrily snarl, you were just annoyed. You knew he would never actually hurt you, and you were well aware that the Dragon would often put your wishes over his own.
"No! Bad!"
Using the back of your hand, you were quick to bop the snout of the Dragon who snorted and shook his head. From beneath the great beast came a flurry of squeaks as the Hatchlings responded to your voice and Malleus' movement. No doubt they were displeased to be relegated to spend their days beneath their father who refused to let go of his broody behavior.
"That's a bad Dragon- Mal!!"
You squawked out angrily as the beast lifted you by the back of your shirt, tucking you beneath him with the hatchlings. From beneath the darkness of the Dragon's belly, you could see several glowing eyes staring at you. Due to the way his stomach caved inwards near his hips, it created a perfect dome area where you and the Hatchlings were currently settled. Dark, warmer than you expected, and completely inescapable.
"Malleus Draconia, knock it off this instant! Are you listening to me?? Get your fucking lizard ass off of us!"
Even as you yelled up to the Dragon, all you heard in response was a deep purr that drowned out your shouts. Even as you screamed and raved at the Dragon, the little Hatchlings were quick to settle down on your body. Laying on your legs, under your arms, in your lap, anywhere they could have physical contact with you was fair game. Apparently, Malleus had no intention of moving and no intention of listening to your demands.
All you could really do was wait it out until the Dragon finally calmed down. Who knows when that would be or if it would be soon.
"Damned lizard."
The only response you got to your bitter muttering was the symphony of purrs from the hatchlings surrounding you and the pleased Dragon above you.
Nerves wormed inside of you as you sat in your extravagant dress, facing off with a whole gathering of scientists and doctors. They were all of different age ranges and species across the board. From various centaur-like species, to Harpies and Sirens, even all the way to Yeti and Sasquatch. They all waited expectantly for your permission to approach and examine.
Hades stood behind you, his bright yellow eyes piercing into the onlookers and almost daring them to try their approach. Despite how desperate these scientists were to approach you and examine to their heart's delight, they wouldn't challenge the elder Shinigami lightly. Some of them had dedicated their entire lives to researching your species. To think, a member of a species that had been extinct for hundreds of years was now sitting before them.
Even just looking at you had the entire group furiously writing notes down and trying to document everything they could possibly notice. From the appearance of your hair all the way to the shape of your feet, the beasts were trying to get an accurate record of everything.
Naturally, you weren't going to let them swarm you. Far too much could happen and there could be a building fervor that results in these beasts of science to become beasts driven by carnal desires. It had become a matter of how many you would allow to approach you and in what order.
"How do you want to do this, Little One?"
"By not doing it at all, but that isn't an option right now."
The elder nodded, knowing you were not pleased but also knowing that drive to study that the monsters circling you had. He also had quite the hunger for research and was keen to research your womb in particular. He wanted to keep the other beasts away from you, especially given his own interests in guarding your secrets. Still, you were the one running this entire exam, and he would return to the pits of Tartarus long before he would let these beasts mistreat you.
You were just trying to build up the courage of what you were willing to tolerate. How much blood did each one want to take from you? What kind of exams did they think would be appropriate and how invasive would they be? For as tough as your position was, you had agreed to this the last time the representatives hounded you. All you had to do was allow them to do their examination of you.
"Fine. Only two of you at a time can approach and start your research, the others must wait. No one draws blood until all cursory exams have been finished. I can remove most of these clothes, but insist on keeping my underclothes and limiting the exam to external only."
"Pardon me, dear Human, but a full internal and external body exam would be more beneficial-"
"I only agreed to a cursory medical exam and potentially allowing my blood to be collected. I did not agree to a full internal examination from anyone. Not even my prospective mates are allowed to do such a thing, what makes you think you are?"
The scientist- a timid and thin female sheep woman with fluffy wool- quickly nodded, her glasses almost slipping off of her sheep ears. It was true and they weren't going to push you enough to make you withdraw consent all together. They had a golden opportunity with you, one that few would be willing to squander trying to argue semantics with you.
"My apologies! I didn't mean to come across as rude."
"I expect you all to keep yourself in check, or Papa Hades will do it for you. Now choose among yourselves which two will approach first."
Your words resulted in a sudden influx of heated arguments. All of the beasts trying to be first to approach you and get their research under way. A fair portion of them just wanted the chance to touch your beautiful skin and examine you up close. Not even those who had purely scientific belief prior were able to fully resist the call of your delectable scent.
The first of the scientists to approach were a pair of individuals. They broke off from the still arguing group and approached you amidst the raised voices and hissed insults.
One of them was a rather interesting looking non-horned lizard woman with Fae ears. She had the same green hair as Sebek- albeit, longer and more wild than his- and the same scutes upon her face. Her long reptilian tail made you think immediately of a crocodile.
The other was a rather odd canine male that had light fur that was almost blue. He seemed much more timid than the Fae woman and was keen to stay by her side, even as he hid behind his glasses. Unlike the Werewolves you have encountered in the past, this man had the same sparse kind of fur like Che'nya that gave him a more Humanoid face despite his fluffy ears.
Together, the pair looked like someone took features from Sebek and split them into two individuals.
"P-pardon us."
The male said, his voice holding how stressed he seemed to feel as he looked at you in interest. Next to him, the female stood at least two heads taller than you and smiled down at you with what could be perceived as kindness. Her mouth was lined with the same sharpened fangs of a crocodile, though not a snaggled as most crocodilian species.
"If you two are first, I only ask you are gentle in your examination."
"Don't you fret, sweet child. Sebek would surely be cross with us for mishandling his liege's mate. It would reflect quite poorly on us as dutiful Hoard members to be rough with you."
"You're both in Malleus' Hoard too?"
"As the Dragons see it, yes. We are not officially Prince Malleus', but our son, Sebek is. I am in Queen Malefica's Hoard, my father was in Princess Maleanor's Hoard before being absorbed into Queen Malefica's Hoard. As they see the Hoards of their families to be their own, in a sense all Hoards of the Draconias overlap."
"Oh... Oh! You two are Sebek's parents! That... That actually makes me feel way less nervous than I was!"
The realization made relief run through you, leaving you almost panting from the sudden release of anxiety. You knew they would still form an addiction to you, but it made it easier to know they were Sebek's parents. Clearly Sebek got his confidence from his Fae mother and not his somewhat timid canine father. While the pair spoke gently to you and helped you remove the top layer of the dress, the others realized they had been beaten to accessing you first.
Among their glares and impatient waiting, the cold stare of the elder Shinigami kept them from acting out. Sure, there were more of them than there were of him, but that didn't mean they could genuinely fight the elder. There was a reason only the Dragons could stand up to the ancient being.
That fear kept things calm, even as more of your skin was revealed to be examined. All they could do was idly take notes and hope that the pair would be quick.

"Headmage Dire Crowley, those of us in the Shaftlands insist that Maquillaville be next for that Human to visit. The film festival is coming up and it would do well to have her in attendance."
A rather lithe Lamia did what she could to convince the Crow she spoke to, your absence making most discussion quickly devolve into bribing. It already reflected poorly on the Shaftlands that you were attacked when you visited Fleur City, so they needed to prove they could keep you safe. That was the goal of all the representatives.
You had become a rather hot commodity and even scalpers were printing out your images from your Magicam to peddle on the street. The entire film community in Maquillaville had been petitioning to have you as a special guest to their winter film festival and were eager to copy your likeness for new films. They were not the only ones vying for you to visit.
From the Falena of the Sunset Savanna to the pair of female Dragons from Briar Valley, everyone was keen to make their case heard. It wasn't until a long-legged Cameltaur spoke up, his body adorned in fine silks and his golden neck bangles clinking as he moved.
"I have the full approval of the Scalding Sands museum and even the approval of the Al-Asim to offer great boons and finery to the whole of Night Raven College in exchange for a visit from The Human to our finest Qasr Sultanate. The Al-Asim have graciously made generous donations of goods as well as a high-prized item from their family coffers to be gifted upon agreement to her visit."
As the Cameltaur gestured with his hands, a group of serving Naga and Jackals quickly brought out several chests, opening all but one to display the goods held within. Each fine silk rug and glittering gemstone seemed to sparkle in the semi-darkness of the room. Such a display was not missed by the- now trio- group of Dragons. All three royals examining the gifts as the glittering reflected in their eyes.
It was not typically considered wise to flaunt finery in front of Dragons, the beast being notorious for hoarding all manner of goods. Gemstones in particular were fairly coveted by all Dragons, not just the Night Fae that sat in full force. Even Malleus- who already held claim to the most valuable being in the world within his very own Hoard- could not deny how his gaze licked over the jewels presented.
"What is in the unopened chest?"
Crowley inquired, equally interested in the veritable pile of wealth he was being bribed with. Ever a purveyor or shiny things, the Crow couldn't help but feel curious. All of the other containers had been opened, but this one seemed to be of increased value given the secrecy around it.
"No need to worry," the Cameltaur idly tried to ignore the curiosity of the others, seemingly attempting to pull attention away from the chest, "just a contribution from the Scalding Sands museum, that is all. No need to worry over semantics-"
As the other male tried and failed to distract the Crow, Crowley was already far too interested in what may be hiding. He was a collector, after all, and there was obviously something to be collected in that sealed container. Ever curious and wanting to know what his prize could be, not even the Cameltaur could stop Crowley from opening it.
Naturally, all the visitors and staff alike were keen to see just what was being offered. All of them leaning in to try and get a look at this supposed treasure.
Crowley was initially confused. Upon cursory glance, it looked like a large and pointed bone that was covered in scrawling musical notes. Each note a crack or even crease in the firm bone structure that lay nestled in the padded container. It was pretty, but not overly remarkable. Truly, it wasn't until a chorus of three appalled and furious snarls broke out that the Crow even understood what he was looking at.
Thunder crackled from all around as even the room began to gain an electrical charge. Those other representatives needing very little to tell that the three Dragons in attendance were no less than furious. To see the remains of a Dragon on display like trophies after what those wretched beasts had done to such a kind-hearted creature set rage burning in the very blood of the royals.
None had the courage to even attempt to speak until a deep and angered voice boomed out in the room, dripping with venom.
"Care to explain to us how you got your hands on the last Luck Dragon's horn?"
~•§•~
You were allowing Sebek's parents to measure your arms, legs, and torso. Sebek's father- who you learned was named Zadkiel- had started to come out of his shell as he spoke with you idly. He was warm, gentle, and seemed keen to praise you for any compliance you showed during your exam. He even went as far as to examine your teeth and remark on them.
Sebek's mother- Vessia- was less warm, but no less gentle as she took notes and wrote down whatever numbers her husband called out. Though Zadkiel was smaller than Vessia, she was warm to him and helped him get whatever he needed. The non-Fae Raiju easily slipping into idle conversation with you and her as he examined you excitedly.
"Oh yes, Sebek is our youngest! He was the smallest of the litter, and his two older siblings are much closer in size to my beloved Vess here. Why, just the other day-"
The canine cut off with a startled yelp as a sudden and loud boom of thunder shook the entire school. You could hear the cracking of lightning overhead as a second rolling boom echoed out. It had been a fairly cool yet sunny day when you went back to be examined. As far as you knew, there were three reasons the weather had so suddenly turned sour, and each of those three were dangerous when angered.
Someone had angered the Dragons.
You were quick to slide past the pair, clearly headed towards the primary gathering just beyond the door to do damage control. In the madness of the scientists all scrambling and panicking, it was almost too easy for you to move through the crowd. Hopefully the elder Shinigami would follow you, as he was one of the few that could truly fight any of the Dragons should it come to that. It was your hope that only one of the Dragons had been angered, not knowing if even the elder would be able to fight all three should they all be enraged.
Beyond the door was an equal amount of madness, various guards for the group all attempting to herd and guide their respective representative or royal away from the center of the room. Hurricane strength wind whipped through the room with seemingly no source, as glass windows began to shatter and practically rain down shards. Outside a storm to end all storms rolled and pitched with shadowed clouds. Green lightning danced between the thunderheads that had all formed above the school, leaping across the sky in energetic bursts.
At the center of this chaos were five figures.
One was clearly Crowley, his body in the middle as of attempting to stop an all out war. On one side was a Camel looking Centaur, his sandy brown fur whipping around him as he cowered from the intimidating force to the opposite side of the Crow. Standing in full force, three pairs of eyes burning acidic green with hate to the Camel Centaur. In front of the Crow was something that seemed odd to you at first.
Sitting among spilled containers of coins, cloth, and shiny jewels, was a lone crate. Within it, padded on all sides, was what looked like a large sixteenth note. It was pale like bone and seemed to have a musical score etched into the surface. Was this what had caused all of this mayhem?
Before you could approach the center of this wind-storm, something else caught you. Their larger hand was ever freezing against your warm flesh as you were quickly pulled towards the figure. Standing strong against the gales in their own little bubble of calm was the elder Shinigami Hades. He was quick to pull you into his sheltered sphere of influence among the chaos.
"I need to get to them!"
"It is too dangerous, Little One, I can't let you go."
"They're going to destroy the school and everyone in it if I don't do something!"
"What do you even plan to do?"
"Anything!"
Hades rarely got frustrated with you, but he was desperate to keep you from harm. Approaching three enraged Dragons- Human or not- was incredibly unwise. Still, what else could you honestly do? Thus far, you have managed to calm Malleus when he is in a heightened state, so why not try it again. You still didn't know what caused this current bout of rage from the beasts, but you hoped you would figure it out once you managed to calm them.
"I can't stop them if they turn on you. The younger Dragons, I could handle if they were on their own. Maleficent? She and I are far too evenly matched. If the three of them turn on you, I can't save you."
"If I do nothing, then no one can be saved."
You didn't wait to hear the response from the elder and pulled away, noticing that he still followed you regardless of the likelihood that he could fail to protect you. It was thanks to Hades that you could even get close, his magic shielding you from the impossibly strong winds as it looked like Crowley was failing to soothe the three.
"She was slaughtered! Selfish beasts like your kin ripped her to pieces all to satisfy your own greed!"
Maleficent seemed keen to attack the Camel Centaur, her lip curled in utter disgust. Malefica glowed with a kind of crackling and electrical energy as she hissed in agreement. Malleus didn't even glance to you despite his usual need to keep his attention on you when you were near him.
Whatever they were accusing the Camel man of, it was clearly very serious.
"Get back, Baby Bird!"
Crowley tried to discourage your approach, but you weren't keen to listen to his warnings as you reached his side. Instinctively, the Crow stretched out a wing to cover you as the elder faced towards the trio of Dragons. Maleficent seemed to react the worst in response to his presence, snarling at him as she bore her fangs, lightning arching from her form to slam directly into Papa Hades. The Shinigami let out a sound of pain as he used his magic to create a temporary shield. It was unclear how much time the magic of the dead could buy you, but you didn't want to waste a second.
"What happened?"
"A gift from the museum in the Scalding Sands turned out to be the horn broken off of the last Luck Dragon in Twisted Wonderland after she was betrayed and killed. You can imagine how well that went over with those three."
A Luck Dragon? You could only guess how close the Dragons had been to this last Dragon, wondering just how she had been killed if she was as powerful as the Draconias. Involuntary, you turned towards the gleaming horn and noticed something you hadn't realized about it before. The music notes across the surface were moving.
Like a scrolling screen, the music was lazily trailing across the horn. From somewhere deep in your subconscious, something called to you and your very being responded. Without consciously deciding to, your hand reached out to lay against the scrawling surface of the horn.
As your fingers touched that surface, everything fell away from you into something completely different.
~•§•~
Unlike when you fell into Blot, you were not thrown into this new place or drowned in a sea of shadows. It was more like you were gently deposited upon a golden and near divinely soft surface. That soft fluff beneath you was warm like laying in the sun, and even softer than the high thread-count clothes Vil frequently adorned you with.
"Hmm?"
A gentle and smooth voice hummed out from nearby, the surface you sat upon moving as a large head rose from the mass of fluff. It was only then you realized you were sitting atop this creature as they turned that large head to look at you. Their face was similar to that of Malleus' Draconic form only... Kinder?
When Malleus looked at you as the true beast he was, you saw a calculating predator. Sharp ear fins, sharp horns, even sharper facial features. There was a kind of primal fear in you that screamed whenever the great beast lowered his snout to your body.
That fear was not present with this Dragon before you.
Where they had a scaled face, it was almost rounded and soft. The forward facing eyes set into a face that held an almost dog or even seal like appearance. Where the snout of the beast was similar to Malleus, there was a kind of softness to them that their plush fur only complimented. There was no animosity in their eyes, just a kind of humor as they blinked slowly at you the way a loving cat would.
"Softer than you look, aren't you? But there's a strength in you, I can tell."
The voice, where deeper than you had anticipated, was effeminate and rich as the Dragon purred at you. Atop their head was a lovely crown of six twisted music notes, the smallest two on the outside of their face being sixteenth notes. The same shape and appearance as the horn your touched back in your physical form.
Wherever you were now was far away from that chaotic whirlwind, under blue skies gently dotted by white clouds. The breeze was not fierce and biting, but gentle to cool off the warm sunlight filtering through the giant canopy of the tree the Dragon lay under. Rolling fields and pockets of trees dotted the country side, none as big as the one you two rest under.
"Time is a strange thing... To feel like you have so much only for it to be cut so short. I feel like I have only just settled beneath this tree, yet I have been departed for many a millennia now. Your time is even more fickle. So easily wasted away in the wake of others. But you know how to survive, don't you? I doubt you would have come so far if you didn't."
"... Who are you?"
Your voice was softer than you intended, but they heard you all the same. Their purr vibrated their whole chest beneath you as their wings rose up clearly among the fluff that covered their body. This Dragon was larger than Malleus, easily more than twice his size.
"I am Fortuna, but most call me The Luck Dragon. I am not the first... But I am indeed the last."
"Wait, you said you were departed... How are you talking to me?"
"Souls hold strength, you of all beings should know this, seeing how often Humans enchanted things with their souls alone. There have been whispers on the echoed voices of the dead, many of them carrying your name. Carrying your story. Like me, you were given an unfair path by the hands of fate. A lonely path. I see kin in you, little Survivor. One who knows what it means to suffer loneliness, yet never be left alone long enough to truly dwell on it."
A kind of sadness ached in your chest for this Dragon. She was clearly the Dragon Maleficent had been referencing, but seemed to be in a category all her own. Even when compared to the three Dragons you knew, Fortuna was different. As far as you knew, Dragons were incredibly rare to the point Malleus and his two ancestors were the only three the world really knew of.
"My friends still hold sorrow for me. Night Fae tend to carry hurt and pain far easier than they carry joy, especially Night Fae Dragons. They will not rest until they feel I am at rest, which cannot be done as I am now. What little remains of me- what those I thought I could trust ripped away from my body- carry no Luck, but my soul still clings to them no matter how faint."
"How can we lay your soul to rest before they destroy the island? I don't even know where to start."
Fortuna gave a gentle chuckle in response, seeming far less worried than you were at that moment. As if she could read your anxiety, she was quick to nuzzle her large muzzle against your body in an attempt to soothe you. Though it was often rather unnerving to be the center of attention for such a large creature, something about her calm attitude put you at rest. Her gentle behavior almost energizing to your stressed body.
"I will aid you. Our experiences and loneliness make us Kin, and as my Kin I will do what I can to keep you safe. Your boon shall be my last act. This will be the last time I sit beneath this tree and watch time pass me by."
As she spoke, you felt like you were sinking into that plush fur and being slowly swallowed into it. Fortuna just watched as you sank into her golden fur, her deep copper eyes ever so gentle as she lay her head large down on her back. As she craned her long neck, you could see the gentle silver scales that decorated her body beneath the fur.
It wasn't until you were almost completely absorbed by her fur that her eyes began to close for the final time. Even her gentle smile fell from her face as her figure went limp beneath you and her purring faded away. She was fading away and you could do nothing but wait with her in her final moments of awareness. What she planned to do after this and how it would calm the Dragons was beyond your understanding for now.
You could only hope that her actions and sacrifice had meaning.
~•§•~
Coming back into awareness was a strange feeling. Much like the feeling of falling into an ocean of Blot, you felt more than a little disoriented as you came out of it with some level of awareness. On the surface, nothing had changed.
The wind was still whipping around you. The three Dragons were still snarling. Papa Hades was still trying to stop them from attacking, all while enduring lightning strikes from the elder Dragon. It truly seemed like no time had passed at all.
The horn beneath your hand had undergone a change while you were in the realm of the Luck Dragon. It no longer moved like an ever scrolling musical score and now sat stationary beneath your hand. By all appearances, the magic or soul fragment it held was now gone.
As you looked up from the horn, something odd occurred to you. Sounds were sharper and almost seemed louder now. The air held a kind of smell you didn't notice before. Even looking towards the maelstrom before you, there was something different that you just couldn't place.
'Walk with confidence, little Survivor. I will take every step with you.'
The deep and soothing voice of Fortuna hummed in your mind, compelling you to walk forward to the Shinigami that was barely withstanding the attacks. As you reached the elder's side, the gale force winds suddenly died down and the rolling storm overhead quieted to a soft hum. Even Hades seemed confused before he glanced down to his side, seeing you standing there by him.
Your very presence had quieted the snarls of the Dragons as they now regarded you curiously, three pairs of green eyes locked onto your figure with unwavering stares. You could see the way Malefica and Malleus seemed to be looking mainly at you, their nostrils flaring as they took in your scent. It was Maleficent that did not respond like the other two did. Maleficent was looking above and behind you, but not at Hades. She was instead looking at something that you could neither see nor hear somewhere over your shoulder.
The Dragon was silent for a moment before she spoke, her voice carrying the weight of the countless others who came before her. Unlike her daughter, Maleficent never seemed to deign using her authority or position to gain fealty from those who approached her. Just her very presence alone was enough to silence others.
"(Y/n), Child of Man, chosen mate of my Kin, step forward."
You did as she asked, noticing the way Hades seemed to tense next to you nervously. The beasts that stood before you were no longer behaving in a hostile manner, but that didn't mean that you felt completely at peace with them either. These Dragons were unnerving and sent every instinct inside of you into a blind panic. It took more than you were willing to say just to stand before them.
The feminine Dragon gently lifted her hand as a green glow emanated from her. That same glow slowly washed over you as if it were some kind of blanket that had been tossed on top of you. It was a mix of cold and warm, both physically present and near imperceptible. Something about it brought a kind of comfort to you before it faded from view.
"It would seem Fortuna has selected a soul successor."
"So long after her death? Is that possible?"
"That familiar hint of magic now coming from our magicless Human would speak to the authenticity of it."
The female Dragons exchanged a look as they spoke in the language of the Fae, Malleus and Crowley listening intently to them. Though they claimed there was something different about you, you felt mostly the same. True, you did hear the voice of the female Dragon in your mind, but you had spoken to plenty of souls before...
Human souls.
Maybe Dragon souls behave like something different compared to the souls that you were familiar with. If that were the case, then perhaps you had to have a long talk with Malleus or the two Queens who idly discussed you. At least the tension had been broken and the trio had begun to calm down.
While the pair of Dragons hummed out their musings, you were almost immediately approached by Malleus. The Dragon was keen to look you over for injuries, his nostrils still flaring somewhat as he practically stood on top of you. Low hums escaped the male before those slit pupils of his trailed over your body. Something about the way he looked at you as he drank in your scent seemed... Hungry.
Even beyond the look he was giving you, it felt like something deep within you was responding in kind to the male Dragon's stare. Like a soft humming song that longed to find a familiar harmony in the male in front of you. With great effort, you shook off the feeling and instead fixed Malleus with a curious stare.
"Tsuno?"
Your voice seemed to break through whatever it was that was flitting about in his mind, the Dragon returning to clarity. As Malleus' gaze returned to your face, a near stampede sounded from behind you. Of course your guards and prospective mates were stressed, eager to return to your side as soon as they could.
"Headmage," you tried to speak up over the constant din of the males all chattering worriedly around you, "Crowley-! Damn it, Papa!"
Your sudden shout quieted those in the room, most of the staff who were present quickly snapping to attention. They didn't know who you were calling your Papa, but they were ready to heed your call regardless. That moment of quiet gave you plenty of time to get your thoughts in order before speaking to the attentive group.
"Once again, it seems this enclave had been cut short due to outside circumstances. Do I really have to go back to being poked and prodded again, or can we just call it a day?"
"Hm... If they cannot examine you today, then there will have to be yet another gathering for the sole purpose of examining you."
"Ugh... Fine. I'll let them continue examining me, but I want a promise from all the representatives in attendance that this is the last gathering for at least a few months."
"I can see if that is amenable with the representatives."
You nodded a this, glancing out towards the group of huddled together representatives. They didn't seem too worse for wear, just a bit shaken up. As you watched them for a moment, something in the back of your mind fought for attention as you turned to the Dragon horn still nestled away safely.
"That shouldn't be here. It should be handed over to the Draconias to give her proper funeral rites."
With that, you begrudgingly made your way back towards the room where several nervous scientists were peaking out. They were quick to scatter at your approach while the elder Shinigami continued following you. Everyone in attendance had more questions than answers, all eyes turning to the Dragons who didn't deign to explain anything.
The Cameltaur refused to argue as Malefica gently lifted the horn, her actions gentle as she cradled it in her arms like a long lost friend. Malleus frowned at the horn, his sorrow overshadowed by his curiosity. Something about you had changed and he felt like his Grandmother and Great-grandmother knew the cause.
"... Grandmother?"
"Fret not, dear child. Your mate has changed, but it is for the better. It won't be very long until she is of a mind with us. Have patience."
Malleus didn't know what she meant, but he trusted in her assessment all the same. Unbeknownst to you, the female Dragons had begun to count down the days. In less than a year- no time at all, really- you would come to see things their way.

As you awoke, it was in a state of extreme comfort. All around you lay warm bodies that happily cuddled into you and cushioned you securely between them. Leona's chest rising and falling gently beneath you, Vil and Azul on either side of you with their lips pressed into you. Vil had his face nuzzled beneath the lower curve of your breast, while Azul lay practically suckling on your shoulder. Over your hips, with his face pressed into your stomach, was Malleus as he slept peacefully and continued to guard you even in sleep. All around you, the other males lay, either pressed together or reaching out in some way to you.
For as comfortable as you were, and as relaxed as you felt, you knew that today was the day those damned representatives arrived once more. As far as you were concerned, you had half a mind to let the males go after the representatives and chase them off. A stronger part of you knew that it was yet another thing that you were expected to balance and take into account.
That's all your life had really become. One big balancing act where the stakes are literal life and death.
If the representatives take you away, you will never get back to your world. If you shun and spur the males that obsessed over you too much, they- and very likely you- will die as a result. If you allow too much interest from those not on your 'roster' the others kill them. If you show too little interest, they could very likely kill you in a fit of passion. If you are too careless, you will be kidnapped and who knows what else. If you are too careful you run the risk of others trying to take you away due to perceived 'fear'.
Every act, every move, every word, all of it needed to be carefully curated. Your only goal was surviving until you could escape back to where you came from. Were you intentionally leading them on and stringing them along? Yes. Did you have a choice? Not really. No matter what you did, you were akin to meth and cocaine mixed into one to these beasts. Just looking at you suffocated them in their need to be as close to you as possible. Your very existence attracted the obsessed creatures that stalked you.
While you tried to let yourself wake up, the door to the room slowly creaked open. There was only the smallest sliver of light from the hall before a small, fuzzy, gray-furred shape darted towards you in the dark. It was the squealing cry for attention this little beast let loose that roused the harem of dangerous men around you.
"Mama!"
Grim launched himself onto the nest as he scrambled over the various males before he reached your chest. His small body curling into you as the males all sat up in confused awareness, trying to find the threat that was not present. Luckily for you, you were still mostly clothed despite the events from the night prior, meaning the little kit would not have his probing questions as to why you would be in a state of undress.
"Guess even Papa Hades couldn't keep little Grimmy away for too long."
Grim was far too busy kneading at your soft body to pay attention to Idia's murmured words. The Hellcat so excitedly kneading his paws and purring to you with his unbridled joy. For as frustrated as the males were with the interjection from the small feline, they couldn't deny that his behavior was endearing. Leona specifically thought about how your cubs- the ones he planned to have with you- would respond in a similar way to being reunited with you.
Where some of the males had strongly disliked Grim at first, they now felt a kind of affection towards the Kit. They could only imagine their own young behaving in similar ways towards you, cuddling up and loving you so unconditionally. This mental connect between the young they hoped for and the Kit you cared for softened any firm feelings of aggression they may have had towards him.
Now, they mostly saw Grim as their own.
"Calm down, fur ball," Leona growled in a sleepy, but affectionate tone, "not even awake yet."
"Come on, Mama! Lion-a-guy is just a grumpy kitty! Papa Hades made us some foods and he said I had to go get you first! Flower, Fire-ball, Chuckles, and Ashes are already there!"
You sat up despite the males trying to gently keep you laying down with them. Once you were up, the others began to rouse as well. Jamil was the first to gently wind his tail beneath you and Grim, lifting you and detangling you from the males so you could amble to your bathroom. Even with how the others sleepily hissed, growled, and croaked, you ignored the males and set about your morning tasks.
Vil was ruffled and less than pleased as he sleepily maneuvered through the bed to lay up against Rook's abdomen. The Drider was also rather tired as he tried to pull himself from the confines of such a wonderful sleep. Both beasts- having slept in your bed before- found those blessed nights with your company to be the most restful and relaxing sleep ever. You were a soothing lullaby that they just couldn't get enough of.
As you sat Grim on the counter and got yourself ready, the small sound of the Kit purring brought a smile to your face. He was always happy to see you and he was one of the only creatures that didn't treat you like their favorite drug. Grim couldn't get addicted to you the way others could, so his affection towards you was pure and uninfluenced by things outside of your control.
At least Grim kept the others mostly at bay.
Outside of the bathroom, the males all set about their own morning routines. Leona just changed clothes with little regards as to who was watching. Jamil was busy texting Kalim to ensure the Genie woke up alright and got ready. Vil and Rook were doing their morning skincare routine. Malleus was hovering outside of your bathroom door as he awaited both you and his Kit. Alistair and Riddle were contently combing one another's manes. Azul was nervously ducking into your closet to change his clothes, not yet comfortable changing around the other males.
When you emerged from the bathroom, the entire Harem of males you had collected were all eager and ready to go. The group following behind you much in the way lost chicks would follow any adult.
You had been expecting Crowley to be present and at least a handful of your guards as well. What you hadn't been expecting was all of the staff and every member of your entourage- Royal Sword Academy students as well- to be present and at your dining table. At least Hades made the table to hold a dorm's worth of creatures.
Closer to the Shinigami were most of the empty seats, the males all settling down and leaving your chair specifically for you. Odds are the staff and others stopped anyone from taking your chair, seeing as it was the only one you could comfortably settle Grim and still eat. Settling in that chair gave you an odd sense of familiarity and comfort, having just a small moment to yourself among the chaos.
Everyone noticeably perked up when you entered the room, but your prospective mates were keen to gather around you. This combined presence of some of the strongest males tempered the excitement of the others. There was only one who would not be dissuaded by the less than approachable Harem of males and had claimed the seat next to yours prior to your arrival.
"Good morning, (Y/n)," Rollo greeted with a gentle and soft voice, his ashen exterior looking even paler than usual, "I trust you are well?"
It seemed like the Flame Nymph was attempting to take stock of you, examining you for any mark the males may have left behind. Luckily for you, your shirt covered all of the bruising and fading marks left behind by the overeager males from the night prior. When he couldn't find anything on his cursory glance, Rollo seemed to visibly relax. You can only imagine how he- or any of the others, for that matter- would have responded to finding hickies on you.
"As well as I can be, given what's supposed to happen today."
Your words drew a noticeable lull in the conversation, all of the males around you quieting and focusing on you. It was while you felt the burning stares of several dozen males that you reminded yourself of your own position. Stronger than them you may not be, but you did hold most of the metaphorical cards.
You knew where your escape was, even if it was currently guarded by a beast even beyond the monsters at your heels. You knew these men would do anything for your affections. You knew they were subject to your desires even above their own instincts. You knew that any emotion you put out would be amplified tenfold. You knew that you had countless powerful males following your every desire with zealot devotion. You knew you had a literal God of the Dead and Nature's Fury hovering over you. You knew you needed to choose your words to get the outcome you wanted from them.
Despite all you knew and all you were doing to keep your own life balanced, Rollo seemed lost.
"What will happen today..? Is there greater reason so many of your 'guards' have been summoned?"
"Today the representatives of the various Kingdoms, Queendoms, Countries, and Territories will gather to assess me. My living conditions, my health, my wellbeing. If they don't like what they find, they will take me from Night Raven College into their own care, and keep any of you from seeing me again."
This caused a rather loud uproar from the males. Various vocalizations rang out, ranging from hisses, snorts, snarls, even all the way to the low rumble of thunder on the horizon. None of the males were pleased with the possibility that you could be taken away for any reason.
Rollo just looked stunned.
"They will take you away? And what if you don't wish to go with them?"
"It will no longer be my choice. They will force me to go, if they must. It is my hope that all of you," you nodded to the group, "will be able to keep that from happening should it come to that. Beyond just their assessment today, they have all brought various scientists to examine me."
"Surely it will just be cursory observations, yes?"
"No. It is my understanding that they want access to my blood. To take samples from me to examine on their own time and research as desired. I assume they will want to examine every part of me."
"Every... Part..."
Something seemed to click in Rollo's mind, a kind of anger taking over him as his ashen shell began to burn a soft pink. That pink soon became an angry red as several flames escaped the cracks in his porcelain-like skin. Clearly, Rollo did not like the idea of you being examined so thoroughly. His mind could only run to the perverse ways these so called scientists may look at you, leaving you defenseless to their desires under the guise of research.
"No. No, I can not allow such a thing! What purpose could they possibly have to invade and defile you in such a way?"
"Rollo, it's alright, I-"
"It is not alright! They seek to besmirch your purity and place their filth on you! Vile, contemptuous, impure, beasts!"
"Rollo!"
Your voice, for as slightly raised as it had been, sent silence over the room. For a moment, the Nymph stared at you in hurt and confusion. Why were you stopping him? Couldn't you see that these beasts were trying to take advantage of you? It was barely safe for you to walk among this campus by yourself, let alone be put in a room of 'scientists' with no one to protect you. He could accept many things from the world, but he refused to accept leaving you defenseless.
"It will be okay," your voice took on a crooning tone, one that soothed the fire of anger in his chest like a balm against a deep burn, "I'm not going to be alone while this happens. Papa Hades has thankfully agreed to be present to keep these scientists purely scientific in their exam. However, I am not a fool and I understand that there could be something else going on. There is a reason I need my guards today. Can I trust you to be one of them and look out for me?"
This seemed to put Rollo in some kind of trance for a moment, his ruby eyes unfocused and his entire body sitting completely still. He wasn't just still in the way an animal lay while resting, he was still the way a statue sat motionless. There wasn't even the gradual move of his eyes or of his chest.
For these few seconds, it felt like minutes to you as you observed the Nymph in front of you. You had never really noticed the way Rollo didn't breathe before then. None of the Nymphs did unless it was right before speaking. They didn't need to. All they needed breathing for was communication. A way to push air through whatever it was these creatures had as vocal cords deep in their bodies.
Sometimes you forgot just how alien these beasts were.
"Of course I can. For you, I can do anything."
The many eyes watching you felt ever so sharp as you focused on Rollo. For all your efforts to balance the beasts, of course they would be territorial when you showed anyone more attention. That territorial behavior came into play with Malleus. The Dragon easily using his tail to pull Rollo's chair to the side, placing his own chair next to you instead.
"It is only right I spend the morning next to my beloved Treasure. How else can I keep her safe from whatever those representatives may be planning?"
Even though Rollo wanted to fight against Malleus, he seemed to think better of it and back down. No need to confront the ill behavior of the Dragon just yet, not when there were larger things at stake. Rollo could play nice for now. There was still use to be made of that overpowered beast that circled around you. Keeping you guarded was more important than Rollo's personal dislike for the arrogant Fae.
"Tsuno," you scolded gently, the Dragon snorting but somewhat relenting to you, "behave yourself."
"I am behaving appropriately for the threats made against you. They will regret their very lives should they dare to lay claim to my Crown Jewel."
"I'm not a gem to collect, Tsuno."
"No, perhaps not. But you are my mate to protect, and my most valued Hoard member. You are more than just some paltry gem to me."
The Dragon purred as he leaned close, gently nuzzling against your cheek in an obvious display of ownership. This only made the others bristle to see a beast so far above the majority of them act in such an openly affectionate way towards you. Even among the glares and almost longing stares of the others, Malleus seemed to be in a world entirely his own.
For a moment, you felt a kind of longing that sent confusion racing through you. Longing? What were you longing for? Malleus?
A soft, far away and hidden tether tugged at your heart and mind, like a gentle touch on the edges of your awareness. Something that splintered deep within you had lodged into your very being, singing out soft tones of desire. Without your will or agreement, it sanded out the rough edges and soothed any reprimand you would have had for the Dragon. Instead, you felt almost tolerant of the possessive beast and his actions.
"My beloved Treasure... Not even the stars could hold a candle to your very presence."
As Malleus continued to obsess over you, a soft squeaking of frustration drew your attention. Little Grim was wriggling in his high-chair and whining at you with increasing volume. As soon as he realized he had your attention, the little furball pointed at something outside.
"Mama, who is that?"
~•§•~
As the many representatives talked among themselves and waited in the illustrious Headmage's office, a kind of excited hum took over the group. They were all extremely excited to finally be able to see and study that Human, lead scientists from all major cities chatted and responded to one another. Even those who had a teasing glance of that Human prior were now present and excited to get started.
Among the group stood several faces that were already tied to a student at Night Raven College. Among them, the most notable being Maleficent and Falena. The pair quietly standing together even as the others avoided the intimidating Dragon that none dare approach. Falena knew there was no danger from the Dragon who only sought to interact with you once more. The same way he had come to see you.
As the group awaited your presence, countless emotions ran free among them. Only time would tell how you would respond to such a greeting from the ravenous beasts that snapped at your heels.

You were laying across the thorax of the blond arachnid as he trotted back towards your dorm, the hooked claws at the end of his spider paws clicking on the cobblestone. Grim was, thankfully, with Malleus at that moment, which gave you some time with the pair of blond males. Though you adored Grim, it was easier for you to not have him around while you contemplated and considered what to do now.
Despite how quiet you were being, there were countless thoughts racing through your mind. Not only had those dick-head representatives decided to blindside you by showing up early, you also had a new 'prospective mate' to add to your roster. Granted, Rook was a good choice given his affable nature and his intense desire to stay in your good graces, but you knew you would have to break the news to your ever devoted guards.
Part of you wanted to hold off, knowing several would have their own meltdowns at the growing competition and lack of greater choice. The other part of you wanted to just tell them and leave no room for arguments. Who knows how Kalim and the others would react to you not choosing them along with Rook? Maybe you would ask the Drider and Harpy to keep it a secret for the time being until you could find a gentler way to break the news... Or you just add more to that list.
You would at least have to tell your current list of prospective mates, seeing as Rook would likely want to be in your bed- if not acting like your bed- that evening. In the spirit of fairness, you had technically done more with Rook than you had with any of the others. From kissing him to helping him 'relieve' himself during his rut, you had seen more of Rook than any of them.
Odds are, Rook himself told Vil what happened, having spoken about Vil helping him in the past. No doubt Vil was also well aware of Rook's mating season, the pair always sticking close to each other. Despite how well you knew the Harpy would take the news, it wasn't Vil's response that you worried about.
"Rook?"
"Oui, mon Trickster?"
"... Would you be terribly heartbroken if I only told the other prospective mates about your addition? I know Epel won't take it well, nor Ace and Deuce, or Kalim. I don't want another Overblot, but I think one would happen if I announced it to the others..."
"You can keep me a secret from everyone, if that is what you wish, mon bien-aimé. Your comfort means more to me than some shallow recognition from the others. I would never wish to put you in a position where you are in danger for the simple act of caring about me."
This made a small smile creep onto your face, sliding down from his arachnid abdomen to his humanoid upper half. From this position, it was easy to wrap your arms around him and cuddle into his shoulder blades. The warmth coming from him more than a little comforting in your worried state.
Why didn't you choose Rook before?
The warm Drider let out a soft sound akin to a purr somewhere deep in his body, laying his arms over your own as he continued towards your dorm. Maybe a second round of kisses was in order..? Hopefully, this round would be sober, but you weren't entirely opposed to taking a little something to help you sleep with the impending stress.
Perhaps it was the time you shared with him, perhaps it was the fact he actually seemed to give a damn how you felt. Whatever it was, you were glad there was at least one beast you didn't have to teach basic empathy to. No wonder Vil was so fond of Rook and often spent so much time with him.
Speaking of Vil...
You glanced from where you were cuddled up behind Rook to the Harpy on your left. The Harpy in question had been rather quiet and you felt a slight worry in your mind. Was Vil jealous of how close you and Rook were getting? Maybe you should treat the Harpy to a little bit of extra affection to keep tensions low?
For all the ways these males worshipped you and chased after you, your life had become a balancing game. You had to string them along and make them believe there was always a chance. If they didn't believe there was a chance, they would all fall into an Overblot, likely dying as a result. For now, you needed all the extra help you could get from the influential males that snapped at your heels.
They were already so deep in their individual obsessions with you that you wondered what would happen when you finally did leave. Malleus would likely destroy everything if he was not stopped by the few who were stronger than him. The others would likely Overblot and die from their own sorrows. Your freedom from them meant their deaths. To some degree, it almost felt like they knew that they would die without you, so they only held on tighter to make you stay.
"Vil?"
"Yes, Peahen?"
"... Are you angry with me?"
"Why would I ever be angry with you?"
"Because I also chose Rook and helped him."
Vil let out a soft sigh, a wry smile pulling onto his lips as he stopped to look at you. Rook was quick to pause so the three of you could stay in silence for a moment. Rook was no fool, and he knew Vil better than anyone else in the school.
"Am I jealous? Absolutely. Am I angry? Never. You and Rook are my boon companions, those I cherish above the others. How could I be angry with you for helping Rook the same way I do? So long as it didn't involve actual mating or dancing, I couldn't possibly be mad at the two of you."
Vil paused, his eyes narrowing somewhat.
"There was no dancing, correct?"
"Correct."
"Good. I am also not opposed to sharing you with Rook. He is a devoted friend and a loyal one at that, perfect for weathering the cruel behavior of others. You did make a good choice with him. Who knows, perhaps- during my own rut- I may be willing to also add Rook as one of my own mates alongside you. Wouldn't that be something?"
This made a gentle warmth fill your chest. The idea that Vil- ever proud and ever standoffish- would concede your affections to anyone was endearing. Vil even praising your choice for taking on Rook showed how much the Harpy loved and cared about you both. For all the ways Vil pushed others from his side, he seemed to have reserved a soft spot for the few who broke through his haughty and arrogant mask to the frightened and wounded man underneath.
Without much warning, you leaned from Rook's back, gripping the collar of the Harpy and pulling him into a deep kiss. It was an affectionate and gentle thing despite the intensity to it. Vil was quick to reciprocate the affection you were showing him, allowing you to pull away as you wished.
His face was decorated with a pretty pink blush that showed his elation far more that his slight smirk. For as reserved as Vil could behave, he was truly an affectionate male that enjoyed attention from those he cared about. He preferred your attention most of all.
"Careful, mon Trickster, I may not be able to last seeing my two favorite beauties being so sweet to one another..."
Rook's almost whined request brought his current condition to the forefront of your mind as the Drider shuffled nervously beneath you. It was more than a little teasing to subject Rook to being front and center for your affection towards Vil. The Drider was still in his mating season, after all.
"Let's get back to your dorm, Peahen. I am certain the others will have less than pleased words for us should we arrive later than we already are."
"Late for what?"
"Date night."
~•§•~
For all you had been expecting after Vil mentioned this 'date night' the others had put together, you had not expected this. Apparently they all wanted to be able to go on an official date with you, but they couldn't agree who would be allowed to date you first. Instead of fighting- as it was against your rules- they decided that they would all go on a date with you at the same time. Naturally, this meant they didn't want Grim being involved or stopping the date early, so the Hellcat was relinquished to Hades for the evening.
Despite your frustration at the males for not asking if that exact evening was good for a date night or if you wanted one, you had to admit that they were trying. Though you knew that you weren't taking this 'prospective mate' thing seriously, they were taking it seriously. As far as they were concerned, they were genuinely trying to earn your affection and attention. You were intentionally leading the males on until you could escape, but they were truly trying to earn your acceptance and a place as your mate.
This all lead to where you were now.
Leona was sneering at Rook, making it clear he did not want the Drider present. Naturally, you were trying to keep them from fighting one another long enough that you could inform all of your current suitors of the change. The others were keen to try and get the 'date-night' started, which they felt they could not do with Rook present.
"Scuttle out of here! We want one evening with Mousey without interference from basic level guards."
"Leona," your voice held a reprimanding tone, "don't shoo Rook away. He's also one of my prospective mates as of today, so he has every right to be here as well."
"You have to be joking. Tell me you are joking, Mousey. It isn't a funny joke, but I can at least understand your want for humor."
"I'm not joking."
Leona growled at this, glaring at yet another rival added to his roster. In truth, Rook unsettled him more than the Lion would ever admit. There was something about the Drider that made Leona's fur stand on end any time he had to interact with the unsettling hunter. It was bad enough having to contend with the arrogant Dragon, but now Vil had an extra little helper in his corner with Rook added on.
"Mousey... Why?"
"Because, Rook has earned his place by my side many times over. I also told all of you that if I added anyone on, I would let you all know. This is me letting you all know that I have added Rook to that roster."
"Whatever... This had better not ruin date night."
You almost laughed at the angry pout on Leona's face but thought better of it. No need to rub salt in the wound.
"Non, perhaps I should not attend this date night? I am new to this all and am happy to make way for the others to get their justly deserved time."
Ever the peace keeper, Rook was happy to back down and let the others take the reigns. Yet another reason to adore the Drider for the way he willingly stood aside. Now, though the others weren't privy to what happened, you knew that Rook was also trying to keep himself contained instead of allowing himself to get swept up in the excitement. He was still in the middle of his mating cycle and ever respectful of your limited time.
"You have every right to be here as they do."
Vil insisted, preventing Rook from leaving. The Harpy sent a rather heated glare towards Leona who simply glared in return. While they stared one another down, you decided to break the tension and speak up to the group about what would happen the following day.
"All of you, before this date night gets started, I do feel I should let you all know that there will be another meeting with representatives, and that meeting is tomorrow. I don't need to remind you all that they will be making the decision if I can stay here or if I am taken away. They are also insisting on a full body examination of me, on top of blood samples and other samples. Papa Hades has agreed to sit in on the exams to ensure they mind their manners and don't attempt anything beyond an exam."
This made a chorus of hisses escape the males as they all began growling in displeasure. The simple idea that you could be taken away was setting all of them in a poor mindset. This on top of the idea that strangers will be examining your body set the males in absolutely vicious moods. As far as they were concerned, those representatives could take their opinions and shove them so far up their backsides it comes back out of their mouths.
"Just great," Riddle snorted as his tail lashed from side to side in frustration, face flushing a deep crimson, "and that rule-breaking Crow couldn't let us know earlier? (Y/n), why didn't you tell us?"
"I literally only found out about it right in the middle of cooking class, and I'm telling you now!"
"I'm not-" Riddle sighed, the red tinge to his face slowly fading as he breathed, "I'm not angry at you. I'm... Frustrated. No matter how well things are going, there always seems to be something else throwing problems into the mix."
"How do you think I feel? I've been literally stabbed, chopped, shot at, thrown, and repeatedly drowned in blot. I'm not exactly having a good time either."
Malleus stepped in then, the others going quiet as the Dragon approached. Your betrothal to the beast was still something kept between only you and a handful of others. At least Malleus could keep himself mostly contained and calm despite the added competition from the others. Perhaps it was the fact he felt above the others in regards to rank- as he is technically your betrothed- that kept him so docile despite everything.
"Despite what will happen the day over, I feel it would be better for your mental health to have a relaxing evening, pampered by your prospective mates and given reprieve from your anxieties."
"If you say so..."
"I do. Now, I am content to begin our date night if you are?"
"May as well..."
~•§•~
You lay back, legs up and resting on the haunches of Riddle with your back laying comfortably against Leona's chest. The Lion happily dragging his tongue over your bare shoulder in an affectionate grooming behavior while you relaxed. Even in the small strap shirt you wore, it gave Leona enough room to groom your soft skin. A deep purr in his chest rumbled against your body while you nearly melted into his figure.
On the other side of Riddle was Rook, who was happily massaging your feet with reverence. On either side of Leona was Vil and Azul, both working on massaging your arms. Each squeeze and gentle touch from the males had you almost drifting off to sleep from how relaxed you felt in the hands of the males.
Jamil- despite his revulsion towards Rook, had his tail curled under you and Leona to hold you in a more comfortable position where the others could be in contact with you. Malleus was sat upon Riddle's back, his chilled hands resting on your thighs while he stared at the others in an almost challenging way. Crouching atop Rook's back was Idia who kept a constant vitals scan on you, ensuring that he would immediately know if you were made uncomfortable by any of the others. Even Alistair- who was relegated to the side for lack of room- was trying to see if he could switch out with Riddle for just a chance to have physical contact with you.
All of your 'mates' were in a rather relaxed mood and position despite where they were located. They had been truthful in that they wanted to just give you company and comfort. The entire evening, they had followed your lead and let you set the tone for any interactions you had with them. Malleus had even gone as far as to suggest a small bit of dancing with himself and the others, only able to placate Vil by allowing the Harpy to dance with you first. Beyond just the group interactions, it was clear Idia had requested Papa Hades make a nice meal for you and the others to enjoy on this date night.
Not once did they truly fight, their arguments far and few between as they resolved any issues quickly so they wouldn't disturb you. They had even willingly switched out who was around you so they all had an equal amount of time by your side. For most of the evening, it had been the males trying their best to calm and soothe you however possible, even if it wasn't needed.
For as ravenous as the beasts were to possess you however possible, they had found a kind of equilibrium and balance as a group. Perhaps it was your addictive aura, perhaps they really were trying to keep you comfortable. Either way, you were rather pleased that they had all calmed down.
... Maybe it would be some harmless fun to let the males explore your body a bit? You could always tell them to stop if you wanted, and- with the exception of Rook- they were all in their right minds. Even if Rook was in his rut, he clearly still respected your wants and your input, so he would stop if you really wanted him to. Plus, you could see the way they all wanted more than just a bit of light touching.
"Question," your voice drew the attention of the males, "can you all keep yourselves in line if I let the group have free reign to please me? Now, I don't mean fully mating, but I am not opposed to being soothed and touched right now."
A kind of palpable tension gripped the males as they all exchanged looks of excitement. It was Malleus who spoke up first.
"Are you certain, my Treasure?"
"Yes, so long as you all stop when I tell you to, I'm not opposed to some affection."
The Dragon nodded, being the first to move his touch from where he had been kneading at your thighs to your stomach. His hand gently petting over the softness of your belly down towards your pelvis. This gentle touching from Malleus encouraged the other males to begin allowing their hands to wander.
Vil's hands slowly dragged over your chest, careful to keep an eye on your reactions in case you didn't want such a touch. When you relaxed back into Leona's chest, Vil lifted your shirt above your breasts. With a cautious glance towards you, the Harpy began happily palming at your breasts and snuggling closer to your side. You had yet to stop him and he was eager to show you some affection after dancing with you.
Azul was quick to follow Vil's behavior, his entire face a bright purple-tinted blue as he got to touch over your figure like he has always wanted to. For as experienced and mature as Azul behaved, he had never really participated in such intimate behaviors. His inexperience was what led him to follow the others in their touches and exploration of your figure.
Leona only let out soft growls when the others came too close to your neck. Despite giving the males free reign, Leona kept himself contained to just trying to groom your exposed skin. Where he was actively mouthing at your neck, his hands stayed down by your hips to keep you pressed against his chest. The Lion was not about to give up his spot to the others.
Rook was the one who decided to extend his touches to kisses and gentle mouthing. His lips trailing over the tops of your feet and up to your ankles, licking at the soft skin he worshipped. The Drider was very clearly getting stirred up as his eyes had darkened a significant amount. With his rising interest and affectionate behaviors, the others clearly began to respond in kind.
Perhaps it was some kind of pheromone you couldn't detect. Perhaps it was that familiar smell of rain that Rook always carried. Whatever it was, the more Rook became worked up, the more the others fed off of his behavior and descended on your waiting body.
As you let the males kiss and and nuzzle your flesh, your mind stubbornly clung to a truth that lay beneath the placid surface of your calm expression. Your way of life was being threatened once more by those damned representatives. Everything you held to for stability was being unsettled and disturbed by selfish beasts that clung to their base desires.
The same base desires you allowed to flourish in your guards.
Feeling a gentle breeze against the soft skin of your stomach above your pelvis drew you back to the moment. Malleus was slowly working your pants in a downward motion to continued kissing a trail over your skin. Each inch revealed of your succulent flesh had the Dragon near manically leaving his scent, trailing his lips and cheek over the skin to leave any scent he could behind. It was also quite possible Malleus was just trying to get in your pants before the others had the chance. He was territorial, after all.
"Tsuno, careful" you said with a gentle warning in your tone, "I'll let you explore, but my underwear stays on. Understood?"
"Anything for you, my blessed treasure..."
Malleus' tone was off, his eyes hazy and his voice a deep purr in his chest. Maybe you needed to stop everything while you still could, before the males succumbed to their longing. Luckily, you didn't need to.
Riddle let out a loud and near indignant snort, having been struggling to turn towards you despite his equine form being your leg rest and Malleus' seat. Now he was flushed and flustered to the point he was squealing out his anxious whinnies of protest. Ever the prude, Riddle could not tolerate such blatant attempts at stripping you. If anything, he was more angry he couldn't actively participate due to his positioning.
"I must insist we stop this now! Kissing is fine, I draw the line at stripping you down! Such things should only be saved for thoughtful mating-!"
"What's wrong, little Unicorn? Scared you can't preform under pressure?"
"Why you-!"
Riddle fell immediately for Leona's baiting, the males keeping one another in check all while trying to smother you in affection. Whenever one would try to take a step too far towards intimate, the others would stop them. This meant you could lay back as desired with no need to regulate the males as they kept one another in check.
Maybe this could be enough of a harmless distraction that you didn't lay awake thinking of your ever unsteady future. Beyond the walls of your dorm, shadows flitted through the trees. Sharp eyes seeking, yet unable to find. For now, the shadows remained unfocused, still searching, far beyond the collective warmth of your sanctuary in the dark.

There was something unusual about getting accustomed to a form you were not born with. Even more so given the extreme difference from being a magicless Human to nature's wrath incarnate. Despite all of the hurdles and the vast change that has overcome you, Dragonhood becomes you.
Apparently- according to your local Dragon expert, Lilia- you were a rarity even among the already rare Dragons. Your fur and the shape of your horns indicated to the others that you were what they called a luck Dragon. All other luck Dragons in the past had been killed, meaning you were the last Human and the last Luck Dragon in Twisted Wonderland.
How lucky for you.
For as odd as it was to be in a quadruped form of locomotion, it was actually the size you were struggling to adjust to. Everything was so small compared to you now. Even Silver was easy for you to lift and carry off if you decided to.
As luck may have it, Blackscale Castle was equipped specifically for the purpose of housing Dragons. Maleficent, Malefica, and Malleus all were thrilled to show you around in their own Draconic forms so you wouldn't feel like the odd one out. From giant doorways, to open balconies intended for laying out in the moonlight, the castle itself was constructed purely to comfort the Dragons living within.
Even with all their efforts, it was clear you were strikingly different from them. Where they would simply amble through the halls while guards and staff leaped out of their way, you walked carefully and always gave enough time to let the small Fae scurry off. While they landed in the courtyard with little regard as to the location of the guards, you ensured to only aim for a clear spot and did your best to glide in slowly. Even when the large Dragons around you did as they pleased, you took great care to not growl at or otherwise intimidate the smaller Fae that obsessively flocked to you.
Walking through the Kingdom of Briar Valley gave you quite the view on how most common folk viewed their Draconic overlords. Most would bow the second they noticed Malleus or his family, lowering themselves completely to the ground and avoiding looking at them. With you, younglings ran straight to you and even adult Fae would try and sneakily reach out to caress your fur.
Despite being a magicless Human at first, Malleus had found a way to not only give you a draconic form, but to give you access to his magic as well. He was a Dragon and drew his magic from nature, and you drew your magic from him. Yet another benefit to being bonded to the obsessive beast that adored you so deeply.
Malleus was more than thrilled with your presence, obsessively following you and trying his best to show you around the kingdom he would one day rule. For as detached as you felt from the kingdom itself, you knew that one day it would also be your kingdom. Not only were you mated to heir apparent and crowned prince of the Kingdom, but you had already taken the next step in binding yourself to him.
There was a reason you primarily chose your Draconic form while you lived in Briar Valley. It was a lot easier to amble around with a gravid belly in your Draconic form than it was to waddle around with a heavily swollen belly in your Human form. At least there was more room for the eggs to settle and your body didn't feel like a bloated water balloon.
Your condition only worsened Malleus' behavior, the male hovering obsessively over you at all times. Even now as you lay spread out in the nest in Malleus' room, the male Dragon lay with his snout buried in your side. He was purring and rubbing his chin across your ribs and stomach affectionately. It was only natural Malleus was keen to put his scent on you and especially on your wonderfully soft belly.
How else was he supposed to let everyone know those were his eggs inside your soft body?
The great beast purred and gently continued to root his snout through your fur, his body nearly curling around you while you lay calmly. He was not the only one of the three great Dragons you were familiar with, his grandmother and great-grandmother often snuggling your form when they got the chance. They did it mainly for comfort, as you were warm, soft, and so very soothing to their ice-shard brains.
Just the other day Malleus almost got into a fight with Maleficent- who he was 1/3 the size of- over who got the right to bury their snout in your fur. It was hard to imagine that both you and Malleus would potentially reach the size of the elder Dragon. Malleus would most certainly outgrow Maleficent, and that only made you wonder how big you would get.
Though you were not a Dragon by birth, you were now tied to a Dragon and had your own Draconic form. Perhaps you would be smaller than Malefica when you fully grew, perhaps you would be somewhere between the two older female Dragons. Regardless, you mainly only had to focus on the here and now.
Right now, you were trying to drift off to sleep while the eggs were sedentary inside of you. At least you had ample room for them to settle while you tried to rest. The only thing keeping you from fully sleeping and relaxing into the nest was the incredibly eager Malleus still rooting through your fur.
A soft growl from you turned into a louder and more demanding complaint as the male Dragon continued to bother you. Some snuggling was fine. You could even tolerate being rolled onto your back so the Dragon could have full access to your soft belly. The only thing you could not tolerate was being kept awake just so the male could cuddle as he desired.
"Knock it off, I'm trying to sleep."
Your tone was rough and unamused, but Malleus could only purr at you. For as many times as the male Dragon got to have access to you, he was still an addict at the end of it all and you were his greatest fix. Part of you wondered if he would keep his snout buried in the pile of younglings once they hatched. For now, he was relegated to just cuddling your belly and waiting in excitement to finally lay eyes on those eggs.
"I can't wait until they're here... I'm just so excited to meet them."
"You can be excited somewhere else and let me sleep."
"I know. It is hard to stop myself... You are just so soft."
The male purred affectionately as he slowly moved so he was practically laying on top of you. His gentle chuffs and purring humming through your mind as the male once again buried his snout in your fur, his wing tips gently fluttering with his affection. You were less than convinced that Malleus actually heard you, having had prior experience of the male getting a little too frisky when putting himself above you.
Last time Malleus got caught up in his feelings while you were in your Draconic form, it resulted in the eggs you now carried.
"Tsuno."
"Hm."
"Get off."
"Comfy."
"I will bite you."
The larger Dragon began to whine and snuggle his muzzle into you, purring loudly even as you growled at him. For as annoying as the male could be, you were incredibly tolerant of his behavior and allowed him to continue. Even with a few snaps of your teeth near his ear-fins, Malleus just purred even louder and lay his entire body over you.
"If you keep me awake much longer, I'm kicking you out of the nest."
"I can't help it," Malleus whined, that purr still persisting, "you smell good... Like sweet milk and honey."
"Probably because I'm a mammalian Dragon who is actively lactating?"
"... Would you mind terribly if I-"
"If you latch onto me and try to nurse from me, I am kicking you out of the nest until I have our eggs."
The only response you got was a purr as you started to drift to sleep. Your soft fur feeling so much softer beneath the Dragon who let out soft chittering sounds to the eggs resting in your body. Soon enough, he could obsess over them in person and let you sleep.
I am curious about the luck dragon properties. Maybe the other children of the rainbow gain small traits of being part luck dragon for example they always get the perfect hand in Uno against most people or always know what side teh coin will flip just that the dragon hatchings have such high luck by nature of them being basically mini luck dragons. They have it more than the rest of the rainbow.
The Royal Clutch are the luckiest of the Rainbow due to their inherent Dragon genes amplifying their Lucky genes.
The rest of the Rainbow is also uncanny in how lucky they are, though they are not as inherently Lucky as the Clutch. It's the rainy season and Leona's cubs want to play outside? The clouds are clearing and suddenly it is nice and sunny. Azul installed an extra security lock with pick-proof pins? Those Cecelia girls are escaping with relative ease. Vil's chicks really want to go out with their father? Well, now Vil is trying to figure out how the four of them managed to slip into his bag without him noticing (and Grandpa Eric is having a full-blown meltdown trying to find them).
Any game of luck played by the Rainbow is suddenly won regardless of who they play (excepting each other). The Rainbow playing against one another typically result in evening out the playing field. The Royal Clutch typically win even against the rest of the Rainbow. All of them lose playing against the Human.
