At first the only reason Melara got into hawking was to spend more time with Lorent as that was one of his favorite activities but with time she learned to genuinely love it.
She has a very bad relationship with her mother. Ireyne wished Melara was more like a proper lady, quiet and gentle while Melara wishes she could be what she desires.
Despite the strained relationship with her family after the war, Melara still kept contact with Lyonel, even asking him to make sure her daughters were taken care of if something happens to her.
Unlike her whole family, Haela doesn't really like dragons or riding them. Heights frighten her too much and their roars were terrifying for her to develop a fondness for them like her older sister.
For the rest of her life Haela would wear only light blue. She grew to despise the colors of her house, flat out refusing to wear black when her husband and children died.
She loves reading books. Her favorites are about adventures or history off far off places like Esso or old Valyria.
It was reported by a wet nurse that Aelora first smiled in her crib when her dragon egg hatched.
When Aemond was still alive he would take her on rides on Vhagar. That is the only memory she has of him and the only one she doesn't try to bury.
Besides distancing herself from anything related to her mother the main reason Aelora doesn't keep in touch with Haela was because she volunteered to be the one Aegon takes as a wife. She saw it as a great betrayal that she would wed a child of a woman that caused them such suffrage.
