8/25/25 After this morning’s work, I took a stroll to the famous Café Hafa, a short walk from my hotel. It sits on a hillside overlooking the Atlantic, with 3 or 4 tiers, or landings, descending down the hillside, each cluttered with tables and chairs. The place was packed. Being an artistic Mecca of sorts, I was surprised by the crowd. I imagined it would be more cosmopolitan, more touristy, but it was almost entirely Arabs there. Other than the view — which is very nice but not unique — I'm not sure what draw the café might have for locals. I drank a very sweet mint tea and ate a very sweet chocolate crepe and then moved on, glad to have made the small pilgrimage but not sure my teeth would survive a second visit. I wonder if it was more low key back in the days when Paul Bowles went there to write?

Hafa! The current god of lust and sexuality from my story Never Just! I finally sketched out a design I liked for them and decided to post it, I’ll have more when my hand isn’t hurting.

Like all previous gods of lust, they are a hermaphrodite (so screw tumblr for freaking me out and making me feel the need to hide their dick. The one time I successfully draw a penis and I’m too scared to even show it)

A bit of lore before we dive into their character: the only way a person can ascend to divinity is to have been born a demigod. And the only way for a god of something to be replaced is to be killed by one of their own children. Hafa was born a siren, their sire the previous god of of lust. Hafa lived the normal life of any other siren, until they were approached by another demigod who held a proposition: kill their sire. For the current god of lust was uncaring and cold to how their essence was being used by mortals. Hafa succeeded and became the new god of lust, later adding the moniker of sexuality themselves. They felt it was important for people to experience both the enjoyment of sex between partners and “sex with yourself” as they like to say. Basically they want people to happy with what their bodies can provide them and express themselves comfortably. A very happy and friendly individual is Hafa. Euphemia once described them in a very apt way: “they always want to be your friend way more than you do theirs”. Hafa will sometimes help people with matters concerning perception of self and sexual trauma or insecurity. Such direct contact with mortals is usually frowned upon, but Hafa feels there’s very little point to being a god if you can’t be there for your followers.
