What if production showcased Selim I and Hafsa sultan era? You said portraying Selim , Murad and Mehmet era would be great so why no not Selim I?
Well I never really thought about it. It would be a great because the royal family characters would get a proper back story. As well as Mahidevran and Gulfem that were with SS in his princehood. That would especially help the whole story of Ibrahim-Sah loving each other or was it one sided love. But it also depends whether or not you believe every character should have a proper in depth backstory. Personally I think instead of showcasing a whole era, having flashbacks that could give us enough insight would have been great.
When I said that period from Selim II-Mehmed III should’ve been showcased because imo that was an interesting era for powerful women. During Yavuz Selim I era women weren’t referred to as “Sultan” , they were referred to as “Hatun”. They got the “Sultan” title and “Valide sultan” title by SS era. Hafsa sultan was just another concubine of Yauvz Selim her life changed when SS ascended the throne because he made her rule the Harem and bestowed her the highest rank. Obviously I don’t expect TIMs to follow history as it is cause if so they wouldn’t have portrayed Valide as Crimean noble.
