The recent Ivan & Mizi parallelism gave me the idea that in the y2k High School AU they would like have a matching costume for Halloween or smth

Like, look at them

Based on the setting it can have various scenarios. For example if they're going to a party (the typical ones you see in american teen drama movies) they'd be mistaken for a couple when they're there just as besties, or maybe they use e/o ass beards or smth from then on (maybe it'll couse misunderstandings w Till and Sua, maybe not. It depends on how open they are w communication and if they're together yet)

Or, they have a theme party for themselves w Sua and Till and Till is the only one to not get bc his phone was dead or smth or he just didn't read the message

I mean they're both really popular, aesthetically pretty, have good images, and basically match each other's social energy... so people would definitely think they were either siblings or dating... they'd probably lean into it for the fun of it (or, as the definition of beard companion would suggest... to hide the fact that they're both gay ASF)

Ok, you know the ALNST y2k High School AU hc I came up w (as if it wasn't just a 10 min ago or smth)

So, there was this shikinshi

and I know that this isn't that AU but the actual HS AU BUT, I long have associated this shikinshi to a song from a musical adapted from a movie that got a cult following until it resurfesed thx to the musical

The song doesn't really fit at all but that connection is forevermore engraved in my head

omgg I've seen that shikinshi! It's so silly 😭 I haven't seen Heathers ngl but i was there when it boomed in popularity during the musicals craze in fandom back in like 2020.....

I can totally see this playing as like a silly background song for the scene, no one in the audience really taking Ivan seriously because he's crushing on a guy..... FOR THROWING HANDS.

It would be built kind of like an overused, love-at-first-sight kpop scene. It'd be so funny and camp.

Not sure what the context of the OG song is (unfortunately have never gotten around to being a musicals fan, even during the Hamilton craze) but it sounds really lovely, esp with the pipes(? piano?) at the beginning of the segment... I'm thinking it'd be extra funny if it's an actually serious song but reused for this silly y2k HS ivantill muscial/movie scene (WOW that was a lot of words LOL)

Bad news :(

The only musicals that I know that are set in and High School are either:

a) a dark comedy that ends up w one of the protags blowing himself up (could kinda fit canon Mizi ngl) and a lot song (that I know and like) are kinda... angsty and dark

b) Require way more characters aka we need a clique of mean girls and none of the characters really fits that archtype nor the characterization (this musical also has a song about wanting to watch the world burn, but metaphorically this time)

putting aside the fact that this is absolutely devastating news (wdym there aren't any other musicals about high school.... wasn't high school the Big Musical Thing..... :[) the first musical gave me an idea....

^under pressure from her parents sua broke up with mizi, so mizi decided to cope with violence lmao

also is musical b) the mean girls..... i don't see how we can't co-opt World Burn for a (relatively one-sided in terms of fight) Mizi v.s. Luka beef.... heheheh

Ok so, I'm thinking that the Ivan scenario would be about gay rumors or smth, while the Till ver would be about finding out wherever he's into dudes and the ones investigating would be Ivan, Mizi and Sua (I know here the last part of the song wouldn't fit but wharever)

yoooo CLASSICCCCC man this song is so catchy even when revisiting it all this time later

i personally LOOOVE the idea of using it for Till particularly because i headcanon him to have some kind of greek linkage (turkish Ivan v.s. greek Till would be Very funny imo, though i am slightly hesitant on giving Till the white guy label....). So it'd actually be like.... is he just greek/culturally different..... or does he also like men......

also till has a classic twink build + on top of that he's got an odd clothing style (emo ass) so ofc other kids'd be prodding lolol

Ivan IS a very obvious choice though... I'm just not entirely sure where to go with it because I'd assume his academic persona (jock, student council president, or anything else) is very curated so it'd be less of a fullblown rumor IMO and more of a "oh he's kinda odd sometimes but he's good on the team so it's ok".

Like would they point to the way he's dressed? Prolly not... the playful way he acts? Yeah, for sure! But I can't rlly think of anything else...

I can sort of see it being adapted to Mizisua's situation with like Mizi esp because I'd love the idea of her y2k ver being a Rarity(MLP)-esque type of character. I.e. she's calling all the girls she hang out with "sweetie" and "darling" and is very playful and touchy with everybody haha. + I do think her clothing style is relatively bold and alt in a gyaru way which could be a point of contention

...Is she just popular and social or is she interested in girls??? Who knows.... Sua NEEDS to find out....

Not sure if there are other popular musical songs that could fit Mizisua more obviously... i HAVE heard of a movie adapted to a musical(?) called But I'm a Cheerleader that probably has more wlw themes but aagain.... i haven't gotten around to watching it... so i don't have any off the top of my head...
