“Strangely enough, making Haiku was less about finding reference points in other people’s music than with any of our previous albums. I guess some of our albums have been heavy with references, and fairly style-conscious, but I wanted to get away from that on this one, and try to build something from the ground up as a new ‘Cut Copy sound’ based on what we play together. Basically, I wanted to let the music do the talking.”
