Farore was damaged through unknown means! Here they are fixing themselves up. I presume that it's their nanocore, which manages the magic of nanorobotic paste and directs its actions. Without it intact, they simply shut down as a failsafe.
I am inventing a lot of background story I wasn't filled in on.
It won't be too long until those clunky braces and straps have to come off as the nanobots wake back up and DO THEIR JOB.
