Context (copy-pasted from Discord lol):
So I was in the shower and I got to thinking about my lil self-insert thing. And I was thinking, how the fuck did he justify what he was involved in? Because irl me would probably do something that would get myself killed if I heard anything about that.
I came to the conclusion that he justified it by convincing himself that it didn't matter. They were orphans. There was nobody to miss them, to mourn their loss, so they weren't really people, were they? It didn't really matter, right?
Then I started thinking about Jack. Jack wasn't an orphan. Jack had loving parents. Jack was an unfortunate victim of an accident and was deeply missed. So obviously, my dear self-insert wouldn't be able to excuse what was to become of him.
So I made this. I like to think it would be their only real, major argument. And Harley's statement is more of a threat than a suggestion, because one does not simply just "leave" the special projects division. Those who pussy out are a liability. And we know what happens to liabilities.
So he's a bit stuck. This would also likely be his only real regret.
That and I suppose "allowing" the newly formed amalgamation of three kids to kill Jack's parents.
