“I bet you kiss your knuckles right before they touch my cheek.”
“are we being literal or...?? ‘cause i think you know both times i’ve hit you that i didn’t kiss my knuckles, but that’s oddly poetic. who knew you were so deep, happy feet??”
“i found the devil.”
“was he in the bathroom ‘cause you spent like thirty minutes in there -- - i’m not going to find victoria secret magazines and a bunch of tissues when i go in there, yeah?? kidding, but i would like to know what you’re talking about.”
“i sold my soul.”
“i hope you kept the receipt...”

Expecting: Our characters find out they are expecting a child together
When Makena missed her period she felt her heart sink, only assuming it was because her infertility was becoming prominent again. She stopped treatments an age and a half ago so it made sense that this would be happening, and despite the fact she wasn’t in the mind set to think of having children any time soon, it still shattered her heart. But this wasn’t new; she’d gone through this before so she put on her brave face and carried on for a good two weeks until she started getting sick. She’d have to miss the first few minutes of her morning classes because she’d be hunched over feeling like absolute shit, and that was when she knew something was wrong. There was no way she could be…no. Makena was almost sure she was still infertile and that was nearly impossible, but she had to check. So she took the dreaded fifteen minute drive to the nearest clinic – the one where she first learned about her infertility – and went through the all too familiar process of getting checked. This was something she did a lot many months ago; secretly go in to see if she was just as good as every other woman though she hardly ever was, even with the treatments. But as she nervously sat on the wax paper covered table with her bottom lip caught between her teeth, she was given news that she hadn’t expected to hear. She was pregnant. “No..” Was all she could manage as the doctor gave her the news, but it was as if he’d gone through this a hundred times before with young mothers, everything he said sounding scripted and rehearsed. “There are some options–” He was starting to say before she cut him off, her head shaking, “No, I’m keeping it.”
On the car ride back to campus, she tried to think of ways to break it to the father. Of course it was Harold’s, he was the only person she’d slept with recently, but she almost wished it wasn’t his. He was already tied down with his many arrangements, the main thing being his engagement and she didn’t want to burden him with the news, so for a long time she kept quiet. If this happened months before she’d be ecstatic; calling up everyone she knew, probably happy crying every day because she would be getting everything she’d ever wanted, but that wasn’t the case. It’d been a week or so before she told anyone, and that was her mother who was overseas and couldn’t possibly run her mouth off to anyone who actually knew Makena’s situation. And despite the dread that sat heavy with her, she told Harold next.
There wasn’t really any excitement. No jumping up and down or high fives for ‘getting ‘er done’ (which is something Makena probably would’ve done if this would’ve happened while they were still together). Instead there were a lot of tears and hugs, a few apologies from her despite her lack of control over the situation, as well as numerous concerned glances. How on earth would this work? At the time, they didn’t know, but it was going to be a good enough amount of time before she started showing that they could plan. Though even after all of the drama, at the end of the day, Makena was secretly very happy. She was going to get to be a mom to Harold’s child and that was something she used to only dream about.
give me a kiss only bc hakena kisses <3
8. clumsy kiss
Getting drunk with your boyfriend is probably the best activity because he doesn’t judge you ( out loud ) because he’s already seen you do a lot of stupid shit. At thing point they’d gone through a bottle or so of whatever they could get their hands on and Makena had started getting too friendly. It wasn’t out of the norm for her to do this, so it was no surprise when she started playing with the hem of his shirt and giggling uncontrollably while her eyes never looked away from his lips. “You’re really pretty.” The words came out along with a hiccup so it sounded rather weird, but Makena knew she got the point across. She was sandwiched between him and the wall closest to her kitchen, honestly forgetting how she ended up there, it didn’t really matter anyway. The game of giggling and staring went on for another moment or so before she leaned forward to kiss his lips but ended up missing by an inch. Her balance was another thing she forgot about when drunk. “That’s not your mouth “ Within another second she’d managed to find his actual lips and kissed him, her hands staying on either side of his face in order to try to keep him from moving because if he did she’d end up missing again.
