Dark smoke billowed from the book laying open in front of them, filling the room and grasping at corners and curtains with inky black fingers that leave chilling trails across their pale walls and mysterious shapes pressed into their floorboards.  The smell of crackling fire and flickering candle warmth floated on the air behind the darkness, between it, around it and they smiled as the smoke sank to the ground and swirled around their legs like an inky stream warmed in the sunlight.

“Akaashi look at this,” they whispered reverently as the inkiness shifted and turned iridescent, shimmering softly as Akaashi seated himself next to Kuroo, flipping through his own spellbook and making notes.

1. Where’s the last place you ever want to be/visit?

"The Black Citadel.  No, actually. You know what’d be worse? A brothel in the Black Citadel.  That’s gotta be like where hope goes to die or some shit."

2. What prominent belief do people around you hold that you couldn’t care less about?

“Eh, when you trade sex for money pretty much everyone has an opinion about you. My favorite is that it’s dishonest, degrading work, that I must hate myself, probably can’t stand to look at myself in the mirror. Oh, or that I should be really ashamed about how it makes me less of a man getting paid to get bent over. I hear some version of those ones all the time.

“I really don’t care how much of a man I am. I’m not gonna get all defensive over it. Like hey, you’re probably richer than me too. Am I supposed to be all bluster and machismo trying to compensate? That’s pretty dumb.

“I suppose I don’t care cause I don't think the work I do is dishonest to begin with. I mean sure, sometimes a guy wants to see me looking all humiliated, wants to call me a little bitch while he fucks me, and I act the part—you know, I act it with my whole body, really be it for him. But there’s also a kind of raw truth there from the guy who’s paying for it. It’s not all prettied up. He can’t take that part of himself to his next dinner party.

“Anyway, you can’t live outside the law unless you’re honest—I heard someone say something like that once, and it took me a while to understand why it’s true.

"I don’t mean you can’t break the law unless you’re honest. That'd be nonsense. I mean that if you’re going to live doing something that most people think is just wrong, totally indecent, whatever—if you’re going to really live like that, you’ve gotta be square with what’s inside of you. Elsewise you’ll never be able to face the whole world always telling you you’re in the wrong."

3. Is there something that you want that you know you can’t have?

“Yup."

4. Is there something you have that you don’t want?

"Well I’ve got this really weird plant guy who keeps sending me to get strawberries on top of mountains…

"Naw, I’m kidding. I’m lucky. I’m pretty much free of whaddyacallems—white elephants? Yeah. And I’m free of pink and purple elephants too. Just an elephant-free zone right here."

5. Talk about your feelings on magic.

“Magic’s weird, okay.

"Like here I am, piss poor, practically living on the street, and along comes some guy who, I mean, just being near him there’s this suffusing warmth, and all your little aches and pains kind of melt away. So that’s magic.

“And then before too long there’s this other guy and, Six, I don’t even know if he’s seeing the same planet as all the rest of us, he’s that weird, but he can do things—make these illusions—and that’s magic. And then he’s taking me out into a field somewhere, gets these damn air-octopus-lookin' things after me and next thing I know he’s telling me that I’m magic too.

“I mean, what the hell do I know from magic? I never went to school or studied books or cast spells, and he’s telling me these things like it’s been in me all along. Well you’d think somebody might’ve told me!

“I don’t think I understand half the shit I can do now. I mean, I know how to do it. It’s not unpredictable or wild or anything like that. But I don’t understand it. It’s like when they told me I was messing around with time, speeding things up and slowing them down—well okay, fine, if you say so? I was just fiddling around, you know, like some guys can roll a copper over the back of their knuckles.

"Guy who can’t do that’ll watch that coin flip over between a man’s fingers and think ‘Wow, how does he do that?’ but if he tries it himself the coin will just fall.

“Magic’s weird because it’s more like that than you think it should be. Y’know, ~magic!~ It’s supposed to be all grand and flashy and wondrous—that’s how people make it sound. But then it turns out that it’s more like some bored lonely bastard sitting by himself at night with nothing but an old coin and his hands to pass the time."

6. Is there something/someone in Tyrian history that you want to know more about?

“I guess it’s probably kind of trite, but I’d love to know what it was like to live in Orr back before the Guild Wars. I’ve heard people say it would’ve been warm and sunny all the time. I wonder what it would’ve been like, you know, the food and the smells, the kinds of clothes people wore. It always sounds like no one could’ve been poor in Orr, like there was always enough of everything to go round, a land of milk and honey or whatever that expression is. Seems like people must’ve been happy back then, before it all went to shit.

“Come to think of it, maybe I’d like to know more about why it all had to go to shit. I’ve never really understood the Guild Wars. All these little factions fighting for power, I guess, but I don’t see what was so damn important that they had to have a war over it. Maybe I wish I knew enough about history to understand that."

7. Super Adventure Box, Mad King Says, or Snowball fights? Why?

“I dunno. Mad King Says? Because getting snow down your back sucks and that weird asura playground makes me feel all queasy."

8. Does Evon Gnashblade have a twin, or are the rumours completely baseless?

“Look, don’t go trying to rope me in to your weird conspiracy theories now.”

9. If you were a Revenant (or are one) and you could pick anyone from the Mists to channel, who would you pick and why?

“Captain Langmar maybe. I remember hearing stories about her when I was little. She seemed intense, the way they talked about her going behind Charr lines, taking all these refugees and making the Vanguard out of them. I wouldn’t mind having someone like that talking to me in my head if I was going into battle."

10. Old Lion’s Arch or New Lion’s Arch, and why?

“New one I guess. I never saw the old.”

11. Talk about a secret pleasure that no-one/very few people know or would guess you enjoy.

“Why would I do that? It’s not gonna be secret very long is it? I already told you plenty. Get outta here."

16. When is your OCs favorite time of year?

“Well there’s two,” Vrenille smiles. He likes this question, actually feels like he has a proper answer for it.

“Right at the start of Phoenix, you know as the chill is finally out of the air but it’s not got hot yet. So you wake up and maybe you still wanna stay under the covers cause the morning’s that crisp-fresh kinda cold? But then by ten or eleven there’s this perfect mild sunshine and the days are getting longer so you’ve got hours and hours to just feel it on your skin before it starts to set. That’s the first.

“The other–sometimes it comes right at the end of Scion or usually a few weeks in to Colossus, and you know how it’ll start to get real cold and you think ‘Well that’s it. A hundred days of freezing toes and shivering and huddling around fire grates.’ But then suddenly for maybe two, two-and-a-half weeks it’ll get warm again? I mean you can’t count on it. Some years it doesn’t happen at all. But when it does, that fortnight–that’s the best two weeks of the year.”

4. Whats your favourite race? 

I really enjoy sylvari because they are so colorful and enjoyable to look at! A good portion of my roster is a salad bar, though, so I am a bit bias. That’s only going to get better because I really want a blue salad and probably like a yellow or warm colored one eventually! (most of my sylvari are neutral and greenish colored, though I have one poor neglected purple mesmer haha)

37. What are the top three tips you would give someone just starting to play?

It’s been a really long time since I first started out but I would say...1. In your inventory there is a little cog that you can click, and the drop down menu has an option called “Deposit Materials”! Use the shit out of that button. It deposits all your “materials” (jute, copper ore, blueberries, ect) into your bank without taking up your inv slots or your bank slots, very helpful!2. Salvage everything. (with the appropriate rarity salvage kit, ofc)3. If you are unsure of how to do a dungeon/fractal, just be honest! Let someone know, generally most people will be kind enough to explain it to you. And if you rather not, there are a bunch of guides and videos everywhere to look at, ahead of time!

22. Do you have a legendary? Which one or ones?  and 23. Whats your favourite legendary?BUDDY I HAVE A GUN PROBLEM TBH. I’VE MADE ALL OF THE LEGEND GUNS SO FAR AND. I JUST WANT MORE. HAHA. HA. 

Hope is by FAR my fav. I was instantly in love with it. Look at it. Look at that squiggly ass pipe gun. I love it to bits. And i love the stupid wee woo red and blue steps it leaves. Someone call the police. 

Of course I made quip too after i got the pre drop and LET ME TELL YOU QUIP NOISES ARE THE BEST?? DOUBLE PISTOL THIEF WITH QUIP IS AN ENTIRE EXPERIENCE. ITS SO BEAUTIFUL. 

And of course the gun that started it all. This goddamn disaster. It breathes FIRE. F I R E. (sorry about my outfit its my SAB jumping outfit and i dont have transmutation charges to change it back so tHIS IS JUST LIFE ATM) 40. What bothers you the most about the game if anything?What bothers me the most is probobly how slow the updates are?? But at the same time i definately understand and am happy to wait for quality content. Also armor bothers me ALOT. I want MORE of it. And more diverse designs for the weight classes and the genders. Gimme bootyshorts for guys an girls. Give me nice fitting practical pants. Gimme shirts that arent trenchcoats for medium armor. I am just fashion wars trash.
