He talks similar to how vocaloid works as a speaking device.

Dirk, for the time when he was making Lil Hal, made prerecorded vowels and sounds for Lil Hal to talk from. Just so Lil Hal can be more like his creator, but as well he was bored and did it for the heck of it. He wasn't in for it to make Lil Hal voice by Michael (the "memed-to-hell" tts voice).

When Lil Hal speaks, it tends to get choppy in some places, but still gets the job done in being understandable. He rarely raises his tone or even the pitch of his voice. Leading to him talking quite monotonously and "soulless", an example being Hal 9000 from the film, "2001: A Space Odyssey."

It can lead to some minor issues in social interactions and trying to reflect it into his emotions. It wasn't seen at first, hence he was only just an auto-responder, he needed to respond on Dirk's part nothing more, nothing less. Things changed for Lil Hal though, ever since he became a more complex and sentient ai, with their own body and personal ambitions. Now he suffers in speaking with no feeling in his voice. Only able to scream in lowercase and not the usual blood curdle people are able to do.

With him not being able to show emotion by tone, he'll just blatantly say as to how he feels, if he is not emoting it through his face. If things hurt him, for example, he'll just reply, "You wounded me." Simple as it is to just tell how he is feeling, he tries in being expressive in other ways. Even when the cyber walls try to block him from doing so, he'll get creative. Referring to fact #1, being able to produce premade sounds, vineboom, cartoon-like sfx, etc.

He should be able to kill Dirk at least once.

He is able to feel emotions, but, is not able to physically show them. He has to *manually* emote them, rather it being instinctively for like it is with the usual group of folks. Humans, to be exact. ‘Tis the way of being an awesome robot.

His brain is usually disconnected from his body, if he is to “feel” something, he is not going to show it unless needed to. He’ll show it within deemed necessity. This’ll lead to pros of being the master of faking emotions, if timed and used properly. But, if used wrongly, for example, showing joy for a time that is needed to be sad… That’ll be pretty awkward, to put in simple words, lol. That too, it’s a burden when people may not understand how he feels without it. One is aware he is not human, but, it’s just simple to forget sometimes with such a complex ai acting like one of their kind. Such a shame. </3

Would like to add, he practices making emotions in the mirror, to see it for himself, how he should properly do emotions; they sometimes look uncanny if he doesn’t make it perfect. Therefore, practice makes perfect. He also does it sometimes to see for himself what it can be like to be more “human”. Instead of being what he truly is, just some silly bot. Oh, how he wishes to be a real boy.

He is forever stuck at the mental age of a 13 year old. He always forgets his age and defaults to being 13 as if he didn't age at all. Time is so funny to him, it feels as if nothing ever happened to caude him to change, he is just stuck in the past.

He got a silly soundboard in his brain and can transfer that into his dialogue. He DOES make the vineboom noise. He WILL make the boing spring noise. He can also scream like a fire alarm.

I want to share something… but Idk how to say it. What if Hal is still technically not all formed into one body. His soul and memories is somewhere else… posssibly. But then again his head and body is separate. Head controls body, yes. That’s a thing. But what if body no work? Head is fine. Head is still able to be “awake.” I would like to think the head and body is still connected. But the head if in dire situations is still able to sense and obtain some kind of information around him, called “Holy fuck, paralysis moment.”
