Following in the desire to walk in @Simplylocal.life footsteps, during this past vacation for my mom’s birthday i thought what better time to start my desire to visit the many locations in Jamaica so as a continuation with the Turtle River Falls.
Nestled in the hills of Ocho Rios, you will find Shaw Park Gardens and waterfall, originally Shaw Park Estate. With 25 acres housing about 600 species of flora, it is the largest botanical garden in Jamaica.
Shaw Park Gardens was originally an estate owned by John Shaw which then became a Hotel and now is a great tourist attraction.
The Gardens offers a great view of Ocho Rios with its rich history of how the city of Ocho Rios was actually built up.
The property also has a great waterfall surrounded by rich plants. For less than a thousand dollars you have access to this hideaway.
A guide breaks down all of the plants and history of the the estate for you so that you can have a thorough experience. The service is good and our particular guide even turned into a photographer to facilitate the photo shoot of my mother on her birthday.
Although it rained while we were there, it only enhanced what was the beauty of the different kinds of plants there. The trek is expansive and has a bit of rise and fall to it.
All in all it is a good to spend the day carry some snack and have a good time in the God’s natural canvas.
