The Halanan (or “high elves” of you’re Thunderfolk) are stocky and sturdy mountain folk, often wandering along mountain ranges deep into the southern highlands, with some settlements reaching even the southern tundra.
They’re sometimes seen as loners or as otherwise unhappy to socialize outside their kin, but more often than not that belief stems from the fact they choose to live in otherwise inhospitable places. Halanan live in close-knit communities, but are generally welcoming of strangers when approached with respect, and troops of Halanan mountaineers are known to rescue some poor outsiders who get themselves stuck in mountains when they manage to encounter them in time.
They’ve adapted well to biting cold and blistering winds, and they’re great survivalists, but it’s all out of necessity. Due to harsh living conditions, everything they make and wear must be able to withstand them, and Halanan craftsmanship is known far and wide for combining high quality and durability with beautiful, ornate patterns. They’re highly sought after, and cheap imitations have become fashionable in the largest cities of the Empire, which has created friction with Halanan settlements unimpressed with the cheap commodification of their craft, which has been turned on its head as Halanan being antisocial... you get the drill.
