This Galactic Starcruiser doc coming out is kind of like trying to improve upon the Mona Lisa. Jenny already made the perfect film. Also I saw some articles covering the doc that even talked about Jenny's video and called it cynical... did we watch the same thing? She showed up with an OC for kriff's sake, how is that anything but earnest and game? It's Disney that's cynical, and the experience she had beat the positivity out of her.
I can't help but be thankful for Jenny spelling out the timeline of how starcruiser represents Disney leeching potential from Galaxy's Edge and then failing to even deliver on that due to it relying on a broken app. I'm sure there was so much magic created by cast members, but my impression is definitely that they were doing that in SPITE of the product that they were delivering, rather than the star cruiser being some beautiful gamble that didn't pay off because it was too pure for this world. and also Jenny spends a fair amount of time praising the cast members that she encountered.
I don't really see how you can look at Disney parks lately and in particular the D'Amaro statements lately basically admitting that the haves-and-have-nots structure of the Disney experience is not a bug, but an ongoing strategy that they are doing on purpose and intend on leaning into, and not see the Halcyon as the beginning of the end of Disney parks being a quality experience for everyone who can afford it. The Spirit airlines analogy is more apt than ever.
So IDK. I think I might watch the documentary, but based on the press it definitely seems like a bit of a puff piece.
