I don't contact people on tumblr really, but I'd like you to know that the images and stories you post are so appreciated, by me and those beautiful lives being saved by the awareness your blog gives people. Thank you very much for bringing these horrifically real issues to the attention of people who may not otherwise be exposed to this information. Though I have only seen the bits of it, I'd like to recommend the film Earthlings. I'd like your review on it
Thank you so much, darling!! :D
It's nice to know that other people appreciate this blog too, and I'm not just sitting here reblogging things only to myself haha :)
Ahh yes, Earthlings...
Earthlings is the single most powerful, most mind-blowing, informative, thought provoking, well-made thing I have ever seen in my entire life. I saw it like a year or two after becoming vegan, and it really reinforced the feeling that it was the right thing to, and that it didn't matter what anyone else thought of me, all that ever mattered was doing what was right. It fueled even more my desire to change the world, and it totally changes the way you're used to seeing things. It's such a magnificent eye-opener.
I truly, really, highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it yet. Yes, you will probably cry throughout the whole film, and yes, you will get sad and angry, but I can assure you: it's definitely worth it. The pain from seeing those images can never, will never be topped by all the pain that all those who live it, every single day for their entire lives, must endure.
Written and directed by Shaun Monson, narrated by Joaquin Phoenix and Persia White, music by Moby; The first of a documentary trilogy, Earthlings uses hidden cameras and never before seen footage to chronicle the day-to-day practices in the industry, and is very illustrative about humanity's absolute dependence on animals and how they are used for profit, the complete disrespect against our fellow earthlings, and all the suffering and hardships they have to go through just for the sake of money and "human pleasure".
With a great in-depth study and footage shot at animal shelters, pet stores, puppy mills, factory farms, slaughterhouses, the leather and fur trades, sporting events, circuses and research labs, it is the most transcending animal rights film ever to be made; even though it was initially ignored by distributors, who told Monson that the film would “never see the light of day and should be swept under the rug” (hah! can you imagine that? well I'm sure you can, as all progressive things are often seen as evil by those in power, and like they must be repressed and hidden from everyone to know because they are damaging for their industry. But, as the film states itself, quoting Arthur Schopenhauer: All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident) Thank god Nation Earth was created, so it could release and distribute this splendid piece of work and to produce other educational and enlightening films and other media as well.
This multi-award winning film is truly a must-see for anyone who cares about animals and wishes to make the world a better place. Even the smallest of actions, can make the whole world of difference, and help to change things for the better; and in the words of Ryunosuke Satoro: "Individually we are one drop, together we are an ocean"
