Me: *using hands as a megaphone* I LOVE MY WARDEN AEDUCAN AND SHE DESERVES ALL THE BEST IN THE WORLD
tagged by the lovely @hawkeeffect so here we go! Black Sails favorites (beware for spoilers):
1. Captain: I have to go with Flint. I will admit it took me a little while to warm up to him in the beginning of S1 but he is just so great and there is so much to him. Especially after S2, once you understand where he’s coming from.
2. Quote/part of dialogue: There are so so many so i’m just going to pick one of my many favorites, Jack re: treasure chest: “There’s treasure inside that box, a handful of which could provide a lifetime of prosperity. Facing that kind of temptation, there are few men I would trust to self-deny. But it is not the treasure that concerns me most. Charles Vane’s sacrifice is in that box. If your man is unsuccessful in seeing to his rescue, Charles Vane’s death is inside that box. Along with my good name. Along with her lost love. Along with your late quartermaster’s life. All the awful sacrifices made to assemble that box are now part of its contents, and those things… are sacred things that I trust in no man’s hands.”
3. Female: Max & Anne. I can’t choose, so sue me
4. Male (different from #1): Hmmm…. I’m gonna say Charles Vane. He’s the worst but I loved his character arc across all three seasons and his end was just SO GOOD. God.
5. Setting: The Brothel, definitely. I also really like Miranda’s house and how we keep coming back there.
6. Villain: Aren’t we all villains in this story? If talking villains as antagonists vs Flint, I’d say Charles Vane in S1 & S2, and Eleanor in S3. If we’re talking villains to the populous, I love Captain Flint as the notorious villain who secretly cares what people think of him. As Silver says: “It bothers you, doesn’t it? What they think? With the things you’ve done… My God. It must be awful being you.” And if we’re not talking people at all, I’d say civilization & shame.
7. Season: S2, there is just so much great stuff happening there. Flint/Thomas/Miranda, Jack/Anne/Max, the trainwreck that is Charles/Eleanor. Charles & Flint razing Charles Town. I did really like S3 as well (Jack really shined!) but S2 is still my favorite.
8. Outfit (male and female): Every outfit Max wears. Just when I think she’s reached the epitome of perfection, she out does herself again. I am also very fond of Anne’s boarding party looking in XXVIII. For guys, probably Billy’s rolled up sleeves or Jack’s King of Nassau look.
9. Pirate flag (if you know them): Jack’s because it’s iconic. I also like Flint’s too. There’s something about a skeleton holding a sword & an hourglass that speaks to me.
10.tagging @thespireghost because she’s my only other friend who watches. But hey, if you secretly watch and just haven’t told me yet, I’m tagging you too.
Captive Prince Accent Challenge
At last, my long awaiting CP Accent Challenge! The audio is kind of shitty and I talked for nearly 20 minutes so I apologize but I’m too lazy to re-record it. Tagged by the lovely @hawkeeffect and seconded by @doumekichikara, you can listen to my CP related musings here!
Edit: It has been brought to my attention that I can’t do math and I actually read CP in Fall of 2013, not 2014. Sorry Marina.
