So how did Hinnorben and Daeris meet? Are they married/together?

They are very much together, and married. 

Hinnorben was the illegitimate son of the Elven Duke. His mother was human, and a blood mage. Their union was a humiliation to him, so he chased her off after Hinnorben was born. 

Hinnorben did not fit in growing up, being a half elf and all, but he was also starting to show talents for the darker arts. His father was handicapped in this way. All Elves can feel the natural reserve of magic in their bodies, even if they aren’t magically talented. His father was completely cut off from it. His father’s fear fueled his distaste, and because of the lack of understanding and compassion, Hinnorben left in search of his mother. Along the way, he got himself into trouble multiple times, and eventually met Daeris. The first thing she ever said to him (”It’s just necrotic energy.”) was what made him fall in love with her. She understood dark magic, and didn’t fear the knowledge of it. She understood him. They parted ways, not expecting to meet again, and he finally found his mother, who welcomed him with open arms and taught him her ways.

But I’m rambling. The way that Hinnorben met Daeris was when they were both signed up for a guided trip through a certain forest. Well, it turned out their ‘guides’ were the bandits they were warned about. They killed the soldiers, and started looting. But they made the mistake of trying to take Daeris’ wands. (She has multiple for different uses.) She, well, flipped her shit and sucked their souls out of their bodies completely, which kills because there’s no true way to revive a soulless corpse (not even necromancy, even a tiny piece of the soul must remain.)
