Aaron smiled, closing his eyes when the door opened. His hand was balled in a fist, in which he was holding a piece of paper. “I almost forgot to give this to you. I wanted you to read it before the ceremony.” With his eyes still shut, he held the paper out until he felt Sam’s hand brush against his as she took the letter. “Okay, I’ll see you soon, babe.” Aaron puckered his lips until Sam pressed her lips against his. Once he did, he smile, turned on his heel, and walked away. “I bet you look sexy as hell in that dress, Sammy Girl,” he called over his shoulder. Once Sam opened that envelope, this is what she would read:
I flew to the Isle of Man to surprise Sam today. She seemed genuinely excited to see me, so that's good. We flew to London and saw Jersey Boys on the West End, had lunch in Sam's favorite café, and went on the London Eye. It's the best day I've had in a long time, and not because of what we did. But because she was with me. Sam is filming tomorrow so I'm gonna hang out on set and watch her work. I think I'm gonna tell her how I feel. I'm fucking freaked but it's a risk worth taking. Here's to everything working out the way I hope it will. - May 23, 2013
On the other side of the paper, which was actually a page torn from his journal, is what he'd written just a few hours ago.
It's insane to me that the guy who wrote that stuff on the flip side is me. Our time in London seems like ages ago, and yet still feels like yesterday. I guess you could say things ended up working out the way I hoped because today's the day! Today, we're getting married. If you're feeling anything like I am, you're tired because you didn't sleep a wink last night, realizing you can't sleep without me there, you're stressed out because the photographer won't get the right shots, and you're nervous as hell because you think I'm too good for you. Well I'm not. Believe me, I'm nowhere near the man you deserve. So thank you for choosing me. Thank you for being my best friend, my confidant, my person. Thank you for being my everything. I can't wait to see you walk down that isle, to promise in front of all our friends and family, that I will love and protect you through anything. Because I will. You bet I will. So finish getting ready, take a deep breath, and I'll be waiting for you at the end of the isle.
