The simplicity adds a completely new dimension, depth to her words. Ambient in a marked way – it’s somber, vulnerable, incredibly authentic. You can hear the pain in “Hollow,” (“Expose my demons and kill my power / Steal my meaning”) a release under previous project Hide In You, and the emotional disconnect in “Apathy.” Silver has a dark and wandering elegance in her voice, delicate but far from being broken. As a whole, the collection is soft folk pop, it envelops a space. 

In the cynicism and self-judgment, aging, emptiness, strength, and distance, Half Sight urges focus, feeling and discovery – on what? That is up to you.

I never knew until tonight that the vocalist for Half Sight (one of my favourite UK bands) used to be in While She Sleeps, or that he featured on this song. Cool.

Also, a melodic hardcore song with lyrics about something other than heartbreak or identity... who knew?
