Apparently Halley Docherty has a very keen eye for London landscapes and (mainly) Canaletto paintings. So let’s have an 18th Century London tour with Halley and Google Street View.

What Classic Album Covers Look Like in Google Street View
When I was living in New York City, I would often go to scope out the locations where some of my favorite album covers were shot. The first time I ever went to the West Village, I scampered directly to Jones Street to try to find the exact location Bob Dylan and Suze Rotolo walked arm and arm down for the cover of “The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan”. A short skateboard trek away from Jones Street on the corner of Rivington and Ludlow in the Lower East Side, sits the iconic scene for the Beastie Boys album “Paul’s Boutique”. Thankfully for Google Maps, we don’t have to trek all the way around the globe to get a glimpse of what some of the settings for our favorite album covers look like today. Halley Docherty, a Google Street View specialist at The Guardian, took classic album covers and put them into their exact locations around the world. Enjoy!

The Guardian's Google Street View specialist Halley Docherty has released an incredible new series of images that bring together famous album covers and their modern-day settings. Docherty uses Google Street View to pinpoint the exact location that's depicted in the album cover, and then meticulously lines up the Street View scene and the album cover so that they blend together seamlessly. The series features albums by iconic artists like Bob Dylan, Oasis, the Beatles, and Led Zeppelin.
