As a tribute to the saying that March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb, we’re sharing two of a series of 1944 advertisements for Hallicrafters radio, depicting the actual weather here at Hagley this past Friday (we had to close early due to nor'easter-caused power outages) and the summery weather we hope to be moving towards. These advertisements, with illustrations created by Tom Dolan, are part of a series that predicts a peaceful globalization after the end of the World War II. The top ad reads, “when the job of war is done and the Peace is won the world will become a Neighborhood of Nations - working and living together for their mutual betterment.”
