Telling David

[Hallie]

Hallie wiped her tears away as she heard her parents' car leaving and quickly finished packing before heading downstairs. She made sure she had everything before opening the door and freezing as she saw David and DJ. “Hi…did…did you not get my messages? I wasn’t going to…um…” She wiped her tears away as she smiled down at DJ. “Um David can I talk to you please?”

[David]

He saw her opening the door and noticed her with a suitcase. “My phone died actually.” David says before coming inside with DJ. “Yeah of course you can talk to me.” He says before shutting the door behind him. 

[Hallie]

Hallie gave DJ her phone to play with and told him to go sit on the couch before she took David’s hand and led him into the kitchen. “Um…I texted you that I wasn’t going to go to the wedding anymore. I have to go before my dad comes back.” She told him as started to pull at her fingernails. “I…I can’t stay here anymore David. I…I’m sorry I just can’t.”

“Um…I gave my mom some money…for…for DJ. And um…there’s these schools I have been looking at that I think would be a great fit…okay…just um look over them. And I…I will send you money when I can.” 

[David]

“Woah woah slow down. What do you mean?” He asks as he takes her hands so she stops picking at her fingernails. “You are leaving the both of us? Why? We could leave together and I promise we can work on things together but running away isn’t going to solve anything. If you left DJ would be heart broken. I would be heartbroken.”

[Hallie]

“Please stop, you don’t mean that. I…I already made a horrible mistake. I never should have…I shouldn’t have slept with Emmett. I never should have fallen for him. I trusted him when I knew that…I hurt you so much. I already hurt DJ…just tell him that…tell him that I had to go okay? He will understand if he hears it from you.” She said as she looked at him. “I…I lost…I lost…”

[David]

“Wait, you were pregnant with our baby?” He asks. “Look, we can work past the mistakes okay. They happen and we just have to work through them. I rather work through them with you instead of losing you. If we go away, we can work on our family and we can start healing from everything together.” He reassures her. “I don’t love you any less Hallie. I want us to try.”

[Hallie]

Hallie’s eyes turned bright blue as she shook her head, “I don’t even know if it was yours.” She said as her voice broke. She heard his words and held onto his hands tightly. “Come with me then. Let’s just go…I have to…I can’t…I can’t do this anymore here David.”

[David]

“It doesn’t matter if they weren’t mine Hallie. I still love you and nothing is going to change that.” He tells her before giving her a kiss. “Let’s go then. I can take us wherever you want us to go. I just have to stop by home to get some clothes and pack some more things for DJ.”

[Hallie]

She kissed him back before hearing his words. “You…you will? Okay.” She nodded. “We have to go now though…before…before my dad gets back okay? I can’t…I can’t watch him be mad at me anymore. I just keep disappointing him. I have to go. I need to get better for him…for DJ…for you…for me.”

[David]

“Of course I will.” He tells her before taking her hand after picking up DJ. “Come on baby, we are going to take mommy on a vacation. How does that sound?” He sees DJ smile and his eyes light up. I highly doubt you could disappoint your father Hallie. But we should go then.” David lets her grab her things before they headed to the car. 

[Hallie]

She quickly wiped her tears away before pulling out the letters for her mom, dad, and Henry. She grabbed her bags before heading to the car. She put her bags in the trunk and then headed to the front seat. “What I did ruined everything.”

[David]

“Look, you have an aunt and uncle that were in the same predicament that you were with your brother. That doesn’t mean you ruined anything Hallie.” He tells her after he buckled DJ up and sat in the front seat and took her hand after starting the car. 

[Hallie]

She felt him taking her hand and looked at him. “Why are you being so nice to me?” She asked honestly. “I don’t deserve it. At all. You should hate me.” She said softly.

[David]

“Because I love you Hallie and everyone has their moments. Everyone has moments of weakness and that doesn’t mean it makes you any less of a person in my eyes. You are the mother of my child Hals. I could never hate you.” He reassures her as he drives them back to his place so they could pack. 

[Hallie]

She could only smile softly as she stayed silent for the drive. She watched as they parked the car and she looked at him. “Can I see your phone please? I will buy you a new one…but my dad has this one tracked.”

[David]

“Yeah of course. You can use it from now on if you want. I can just get a new one.” He tells her as he hands her his phone. They get out of the car and head inside. David starts packing as Hallie does whatever she needs to do.

[Hallie]

Hallie crushed David’s phone before throwing it away and following him inside. She moved to help DJ pack his favorite things. She moved to put the stuff in the trunk before coming back and turning the tv off and seeing her grandparents. 

[David]

David finished packing things up and helped put them into the trunk. “Okay that should be it. Where do we want to go?” He asks her as he picks up DJ to take to the car. 

[Hallie]

She turned the tv off and smiled softly as she stood up. “Um, I found this town. It’s a part of a new kingdom but…I thought it was far enough to just…take a break.” She said as she walked with them to the car.

[David]

“Okay well as long as you know where we are going then we are in good shape.” He tells her before getting DJ strapped in. “Did you want to drive there or should I?”

[Hallie]

“I can drive.” She said before stopping him. “Are you sure you want to do this David? You can just drop me off and come back. You can tell my dad you don’t know where I am. You don’t have to do this.”

[David]

“No, I want to do this with you.” He tells her as he gets into the car on the passenger side. “I want to be able to be there for you and help you.” 

[Hallie]

Hallie got in the car and smiled as she nodded, “Okay. Then let’s do this together.” She said before driving off.

[David]

He took her hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze. “Together.” David smiles as they drove off together.

Visiting Hallie

[David]

David went to go and visit Hallie after she had returned home from the hospital. He brought her some of her favorite flowers and some chocolates since he knew that it would help mentally make her happy based on some studies that he had read. He knocked on the door and waited for someone to let him in. “I am here to see Hallie.” 

[Hope]

Hope opened the door and saw David at the door. “I assumed as such.” She said before opening the door and letting him. “I would just be careful. She hasn’t been in the…normal mood so just as warning. Don’t push it too hard.” She told him.

[David]

David nodded his head. “Thank you Mrs. Winters. I just came to bring her some things to help cheer her up.” He tells her before stepping inside and heading inside and sees Hallie on the couch. “Hey baby…I brought you some flowers and chocolates to help cheer you up.” 

[Hallie]

Hallie looked up from her phone to see David walk into the room and she saw the flowers and chocolates before looking back down at her phone. “Thanks. You can set it down.” She told him.

[David]

David set them down before sitting down next to her. “How have you been feeling since coming home? Is your head doing any better?” He asks before kissing her forehead. 

[Hallie]

She felt him kissing her forehead, “I am okay.” She told him. “It’s nice for you to ask now. You know something you could have asked when I woke up.”

[David]

“I was still going through shock of everything that was happening that I couldn’t really think straight. I tried to distract myself from everything else that was going on…I am sorry. I am glad that you are okay now though. I was really worried when I got the call about you in the hospital.” 

[Hallie]

“It’s okay, I understand. I’m not upset about it.” She said as she cuddled closer to her pillow before looking up at him. “Is DJ okay?”

[David]

“DJ is currently being watched by your uncle Tommy. Ellie is watching Eli and I think Emmett was shunned to the ship for a bit. I am not sure about that though.” He tells her. “Are you sure there isn’t anything that I can get for you?” 

[Hallie]

“Oh okay, well Tommy and DJ have always been close. So I am sure he is having fun.” She said before looking back at her phone. “No, I am okay. My mom has been watching my every move. If I needed something she would have brought it.”

[David]

David noticed Hope was indeed watching Hallie and Zach had walked through the kitchen as well. He swallowed rather nervously before turning his attention back to Hallie. “So then have you just been playing games on your phone or…” 

[Hallie]

“What?” She asked as she looked at David. “I didn’t hear what you said, could you repeat that please?” She asked him. She saw her dad and looked at David. “You don’t have to worry, he’s not going to say anything to you.”

[David]

“I was asking if you were playing games on your phone since you haven’t brought your eyes off of it.” He tells her. “He isn’t going to kill me? Because he is staring at me as if he really wants to.” 

[Hallie]

“Oh no, I’m not.” She said before looking past David and seeing her dad staring at him from the kitchen. She moved slightly to kiss him and looked at her dad and saw he was looking away now. “There you go.”

[David]

“Who are you texting then?” He asks in confusion before seeing her moving to kiss him and notices Zach looking away. “You could have just actually kissed me, you know. I don’t mind.” 

[Hallie]

“Just this group my therapist put me in, it’s nothing.” She said before hearing his words. She moved again to kiss him this time. 

[David]

“I am glad that you are making friends then.” He tells her with a smile before kissing her back. “Please do let me know if there is anything I can do for you though okay? I know DJ misses you too. If you wanted me to bring him sometime I can.” 

[Hallie]

“You want to come back here with my dad looking at you like that?” She asked him before nodding. “I would love to see DJ. I miss him a lot.” She told him honestly. 

[David]

“I mean I know he won’t try anything in front of DJ at least.” He tells her. “I can go and get him and bring him with me tomorrow morning then okay? How does that sound?” 

[Hallie]

“I would like that a lot.” She smiled softly before looking at the flowers and picking them up to smell them. “Thank you, these are beautiful.” She told him.

[David]

“I know you aren’t really one for flowers but I thought you might like these.” He tells her with a smile. “Alright then I will bring him by tomorrow. He has been asking for you non-stop apparently and using your uncle's phone to try to call you and leave messages.” 

[Hallie]

“I get sad when they die. I don’t understand why they can’t stay beautiful forever. I take good care of them and they still die.” She said before placing them back on the table. “Yeah, I talk to him each time he does manage to call.” 

[David]

“It’s the cycle of life on the island I guess. But these won’t die. I made sure to get them enchanted so that they won’t wilt and die since I know how sad it makes you.” He tells her. 

[Hallie]

Hallie heard his words and smiled, “Really?” She asked before looking at the flowers. “Thank you so much.” Hallie said before kissing him again.

[David]

“Mhm yep, they aren’t going to wilt.” He tells her, “That is why there is a slight shimmer to the petals.” He explains before pointing them out. David kissed her back before checking his phone. “Well I guess DJ stole Tommy’s phone again.” David shakes his head with a small smile before answering and seeing DJ way too close to the phone. DJ was asking where Hallie was and he just turned his phone around. “I was just visiting mommy bud.” 

[Hallie]

Hallie smiled as she waved at the camera. She took the phone and started talking to DJ, before seeing her mom bringing over her medicine. She said goodbye to DJ before giving David his phone and moving to take her medicine.

[David]

David said goodbye to DJ after talking with him for a bit. “Is the medicine at least helping a bit?” He asks after hanging up the phone and seeing her taking the medicine. 

[Hallie]

She popped the pills in her mouth before taking her glass of water and drinking it before opening her mouth so her mom could see she took it before seeing her leave. She turned to David and shrugged, “My arms don’t hurt anymore. And it helps me sleep.”

[David]

“I am glad that it helps you to sleep and for your arms not to hurt anymore. How about I let you rest a bit more and I will get DJ prepared to come over here tomorrow okay?” He offers up as he tucked some stray pieces of hair behind her ear. 

[Hallie]

She smiled at his actions and nodded, “Sure, sounds like a good idea.” She told him. “Thank you again for the flowers and chocolates. I appreciate it.”

[David]

“Of course, anytime baby. I will see you tomorrow.” He tells her before giving her a goodbye kiss and then thanking her parents before leaving the house.
