AHHANFLEEFJSL just read your tags on that cosplay post YOU WORKED AT A CIRCUS FOR FIVE YEARS??? TELL us all about it please omg hearts and cherries for u if u do <3
Ahahah it’s not that special! Really!
I started when I was 8, or well- I hadn’t actually become 8 before practice started- and we were 20 something kids between the ages of 8 and 16, so I was the youngest one when I started out.
It was no big circus, more of a local thing, I guess.. but we almost always had a full audience!
We had different themes each year and during the spring we had two hours twice a week in the circus to practice and help out with how each scene would play out.
Then the summers, from midsummer to a bit in to August we were playing our show six days a week!
It was made in the early 20th century, 1930 something, I believe.
This was us my first year. I was the little gray creature to the left. The gray creature to the right is my best friend.
This was us my second year, when I was nine. The green creature standing behind me is my best friend.
I’m the kid at the floor in a front split to the right.
We had our own tailor, and I think that after our first instructor got too old, we also got a new tailor who happened to be our new instructor’s mother!
So as you might’ve guessed I met my best friend there, but at that time everyone there was my best friends.
We were all very different and had fights sometimes and got mad at each other, but on stage we were playing our roles like pros.
We were really like a family, our instructors our mothers, and the tailor our granny, and we kids were all brothers and sisters.
But I suppose you want to hear more about how things went down at the circus, how our shows were made up and how roles were made.
First off we had about 20 minutes to warm up muscles and stretch, once a week were spent doing only this and focusing on dance moves.
After that we were parted into groups, I was, of course, always in the acrobatic group. While in the groups we were told what that year’s theme would be, so our last year we had “jungle life”, which we had because we wanted to spread awareness about illegal monkey hunting and the ruining of the forests.
After getting to know that we were asked if we had any suggestions about what we could do, and my first year we were even allowed to direct our own numbers, but after that and we got a new instructor my second year, we had to stick to her rules.
After each number was done we tried to do them after each other, to create a story that made sense, which led to a lot of changes.
Sometimes an actor would get sick or hurt and someone would have to cast in their place, which also sometimes caused changes.
I’m sorry if this makes like no sense at all, I’m really tired ahaha
My time at the circus was the best time of my life
