ask if he ships ratchet/wheeljack
He said no because "Ratchet is too precious"
I have literally no idea what that means, but I'm assuming you do???
hallowangos replied to your post: something else: southern small towns (...
You know chipley??? Omg
yup. my great-grandmother lives there and I used to go there nearly every year until I was...14? it's such a tiny place. I vividly remember the layout of the piggly-wiggly, and the hunting land some great-uncle or someone owns off the main highway. first time I drove a truck, only time I ever went hunting. didn't enjoy the latter at all I haven't been there recently because I'm, uh, obviously not on good terms with my stepdad, but if you stuck me in any part of chipley I would know instantly that I was there. same with bonifay, to a lesser extent.
However the "southern" stereotypes do serve to perpetuate disadvantages for Appalachian people and put them in a position of continued oppression, so whereas they're just a nuisance for most southerners they really can be dangerous for others I think ? Like.. The whole hillbilly/redneck thing really can pigeonhole people and prevent them from having certain opportunities and stuff in certain places..
that's absolutely true. I'm not educated as to what's going on in the Appalachian region but I can speak to the redneck character type screwing over people in disadvantaged situations who are fully qualified for the jobs they're looking for but are denied them because of longstanding class-based stereotyping. not to mention repeated social exclusion based on that stereotype, which I've even seen in metro areas of the south. it's not a good thing. and it's perpetuated repeatedly by the writing of "dumb" characters on TV who "just happen" to have a southern accent (e.g. Kenneth). I've literally been in situations where I am directly thankful that I grew up in Atlanta and have a less-obviously-southern dialect.
it's weird to talk about because I don't see anyone talk about it ever—it's a stereotype that p much everyone buys into, which is hugely problematic in its own right—but it is a thing.
"I'm trying to ~~wooooooooo~~ you~" -Poltercourf at some point
