You were burned by my negligence.

It left its mark on you.

But you hardly seemed to notice.

Your scars affected me far more than they did you.

I guess in the end,

They became mine more than yours.

Full eyes and empty heart,

Sour lies that tore apart.

You destroyed me,

With a broken promise of ‘meant to be’.

I drowned in the fear and sorrow,

Knowing there was no hope of tomorrow.

While the war may be over,

But there is no peace without closure.
