🎃Let's talk about Pumpkins🎃 What do you do with yours after Halloween? . According to the Woodland Trust 18 thousand tonnes of pumpkins get thrown away in the UK every year! . If your pumpkin seems past human eating, there's loads you can do with them. You can turn it into a bird feeder in your garden. Leftover seeds can be baked and given to the birds or eaten yourself. . If you choose to give back to local wildlife, be aware of what your local wildlife is. A lot of places are suggesting putting pumpkin on the floor for foxes, hedgehogs, birds...etc . HEDGEHOGS can't eat large quantities of pumpkin. A small amount is ok but they will gorge on it, preventing them from getting other nutrients that they need, and they are likely to suffer stomach upsets and diarhhea. . This can be prevented by hanging or resting your pumpkin from a tree. . Pumpkin will also make a nutritious compost. Chop it down into smaller pieces to help it break down quicker. . Do you have any other suggestions of what to do with your old jackolanterns and pumpkins? . . . . . #halloweensend #halloweeneveryday #pumpkins #pumpkincarving #reducewaste #reducereuserecycle #lesswaste #compost #lovewildlife #iloveanimals #savethehedgehog #backyardwildlife #greenwitch #ecowitch #environment #ecolivingtips #sustainableliving #sustainablelivingideas #naturelover #savetheanimals https://www.instagram.com/p/CHH7nCEJnr8/?igshid=hgl0cpr9yz72
