The ratings are in and it seems that The Hallows' time at Freeform will be ending. Season 2 will continue filming as planned, because the show has been picked up by the cable provider MTV. This switch will provide for more in-depth and interesting plotlines, due to less FCC censorship. MTV is famous for its raunchy and popular shows such as Scream, Teen Wolf, Girl Code, Awkward, & Faking It. Being a part of this network, our show can explore more adult themes without obscurity such as sex, abuse, death, and drugs. In addition, MTV can offer a longer run on television as well as better financial outlooks for both budget and payroll. Because of this network change, many things will change as well. While working for Freeform, the cast and crew filmed in Los Angeles. Now, under producers from MTV, they will film in Toronto, Ontario. Everyone will relocate, including writers, in one week. This week's episode will film as planned, but all footage will be sent to MTV. Actors and cast members can permanently move to Toronto or do so temporarily, but keep in mind that the filming season is 9 months on and 3 off (of course with time for short vacations), and they are in their second month of this season. Another change MTV offers is more of an opportunity for actors to appear on other series, such as the night of the season two premiere when select actors will guest star on a special episode of Girl Code. Finally, MTV will start a web series titled The Hallows Confidential which follows the cast and crew as well as doing in character skits, similar to The After After Show for Teen Wolf and Scream After Dark for Scream. Show runners and network executives are confident that this change will only be beneficial. Enjoy this twist, and stay tuned!!
i know that a lot of people might be confused about the details of what’s happened in the show, so i’d like to clear stuff up and give you a short summary of season one as well as plans for season two.
the season began like many shows do, following the main character as they go about their regular morning. rose went to school and we met her friends - lyla, wes, shay, and dylan. everything was going well until lunchtime. lunch comes with six new characters - drew, lucy, karlee, brianna, jesse, and bradley. a brief verbal altercation leaves both parties a bit withdrawn and stinging. everything changed when everyone’s phones buzzed and beeped, telling them to check a website that hosted articles exposing little but embarrassing secrets, such as a person’s hookup spot in the school or how someone’s been staying at their boyfriend’s house without permission. the kicker, though, was at the end when the post alluded to knowing the biggest secrets that rose, lyla, wes, shay, and dylan all keep secret. naturally, everyone was abuzz and suspicious of everyone around them, but that’s just what made The Liberator so powerful and popular - they could be your best friend, your sibling, or someone you hate. they could be anyone.
throughout season one, the characters have dealt with personal messages threatening them, although the only one who ended up getting exposed was that of dylan porter, who came out after an altercation with The Liberator. some statistics on the show’s events are as follows:
