YA GIRL IS ON HER WAY TO SEE HALSEY!!!!!
I’m jumping on the fic appreciation bandwagon and everyone should join me. We’ve lost our fandom, we’ve lost people, we’ve lost a lot, so let’s all work together and appreciate what we still have, which is amazing fic!
I’m going to start this appreciation off by recommending a fic that is very near and dear to my heart: While You’re Gone by @halseystr
Now this recommendation might seem biased considering Rocio is the rollie to my pollie, but it’s really not. While Rocio is the author of this fic, WYG is my child and I’ve been watching it grow for almost a year now.
While You’re Gone is rough and I’m not talking about the way it’s written (which is beautiful and almost poetic), but more so talking about the content itself. The fic tells the story of the week after Ian attempts suicide, with each chapter hitting on a day of that week and a different character’s reaction to Ian’s situation. Despite the bleak concept, WYG touches and expands perfectly on point of views that are often ignored by the fandom and is able to capture a family that even the Shameless writers have seemed to have forgotten about.
I lived for the times Rocio would send me chapters or teases for her next chapter, and while I know her and Shameless are broken up, I hope and anxiously await for the day she might touch on this story again. (I need Ian’s chapter now.)
one reason why you should read: this line - Alone in the dusk of his empty home, Mickey spirals once more - this time, alone. He sits on the counter, holds his knees in close, and sobs. It takes some time for him to finally turn off the water.
another reason why you should read: because it’s fucking awesome and I told you to.
told you I had good selfies to post
