🔥 + what is fenris' chronic pain like during intimacy? does he ever have to cut it short due to the severity of it? does he ignore it to enjoy the moment(s)?
╰┈➤ˎˊ˗ send 🔥 + a spicy question for my muse.
oh, this question… oh, i love this question.
fenris' chronic pain exists 100% of the time. there is no real point in the day where he isn't experiencing some kind of pain related to the lyrium markings. his joints ache in the mornings and he needs a bit of time to warm them up before he embarks on whatever he has planned for the day, and his limbs are restless when he lays down to sleep. all of that beneath the constant chafing and overstimulation of clothes/people touching his skin/etc. fenris is very much on edge all the time, all day, every day.
unfortunately, that applies in moments of physical, steamier moments of intimacy, too. he's never going to leave his partner hanging because of it (if it means penetrative sex turns oral, then so be it – he isn't complaining by any means). but it is present, and it is top of mind for him sometimes; there may be instances where his partner might be able to tell he's not entirely in the moment while he's fighting the urge to bare his teeth against the pain of his markings brushing bare against sheets, clothes, etc.
that being said – intimacy goes beyond sex for him. he might seek touch one day, might avoid it another, and he tries to remedy it with words of reassurance/affirmation or acts of service. he might even request their help with his chronic pain maintenance. applying salves to the markings that dull the sensitivity somewhat. massaging his joints, etc. if they don't mind helping. he appreciates it SO much.
the pain is still present, and it still hurts, but in moments of quiet and oneness with his partner, it is far sweeter than bitter. he would never resent his partner for engaging with him despite his chronic pain.
hypothetically. scott summers —
SEND ME A CHARACTER TO PLAY | @haludh
oh did you mean one of the first cracks in my egg- my secret is that i'm an imposter x-men fan and don't actually know much about scott (or the x-men in general), what i learned was from the films which are....things that exist, for sure. but i remember seeing him and having a lightbulb moment of "oh i wanna look like that guy". given time if i sit with the comics, i'm sure i'd put him in my pocket
@haludh THIS IS NOT WHAT I MEANT —
🧬 : what did they inherit emotionally from their caregivers? / for rook … but also talk about what they got from helene and alistair <3
SYMBOL HEADCANON QUESTIONS | @haludh / @b1uewraith - i'm tagging you too since el is half yours.
staring at the wall knowing el's main caregiver for most of their life was...viago...and by extension, teia, who was a much better influence. but since her day-to-day mostly centered around viago's teachings, we'll go with him to start.
viago's calm and pragmatic thinking sticks out the most for rook. throughout the main story of veilguard, el is predominantly detached - it's a safeguard against the companions' emotions, and their own, but equally a bad habit from crow conditioning. i don't think viago ever would have expected her to be emotionless, but in an environment like that, it's difficult to maintain your influence above the vacuum. el learned to be approachable, but never unguarded as a result. they have a very prismatic personality in that rook can refract multiple facets and have those exist within her, while never truly embodying one or the other. so during the hunt for elgar'nan and ghilan'nain, rook tries ( and fails miserably in the end ) to remain collected and objective - but they've never been given the option to make friends, or have people other than viago and teia care about them.
and that's where her mother comes in, absolutely. helene has a one track mind for the majority of her early adulthood. she sets a goal and she meets it, no matter what stands in her way, but there's always been a desire to belong beneath all her actions. she didn't need to bring morrigan along because of the risk - but she did, because she didn't like how flemeth treated her. she didn't need to invite bodahn to the camp - but he has a son, and with the state of the world, she'd rather them have a safe place to go. it's these little chances that chip away at that closed-off demeanor, and it's the same for el. eventually, they open themself to so many chances they can't help but care on a deeper level.
from alistair, i think she gets his sense of humor and his earnestness. there's nothing el does that's without intention; combined with their mother's stubbornness, they will set a goal and see it done and make sure that everyone is fulfilled to the best of their ability. rook doesn't throw around promises or words in general aimlessly. when she says something, she means it.
she hates how many boxes she checked off btw. she's not ... not into tentacles? but it is ghilan'nain, so kinda cancels each other out.
Are You Ghilan'nain's Type || @haludh
Your options are getting really cool with tentacles real quick or eating an itsy bitsy andruil fragment so tick tock make your choice, cutie~
🔥 + does anything happen with nanna's magic during sex (like when things are intense or there's a lot of emotions) or does she have good control over it? if something like that did happen, how would she feel/react in the moment?
🔥 with some spice
I talked a little bit on this when it was the dash topic, and this is a great opportunity to expand on that yay
Nanna does have good control over her magic—one of the core lsesons of the Circle is to not lose control over it under any circumstances, and that includes with pressure and high emotional situations, be that with regards to fear or good sex. As far as she's concerned, she doesn't let go of that for anything. That's one of those I was good at this in school carryovers that she's proud of.
That being said. It's hardly an impossible scenario to create. The most likely variable is a situation where she actually feels like she could fully let go—this could happen in scenarios where she's been overstimulated, for example. Or the sex is just overall really damn good.
Now the natural state of Nanna's magic inclines to Creation and Nature. Getting her magic to react means a physical response if there's anything related that you're on or holding onto, like furniture will start sprouting, natural material will be reacting, that's unweaving. Oh you were fucking outside? Everything's a little greener. Nanna usually likes to keep flowers tied in her hair in some way or another, so that'll be overgrown by the end of it.
If you do manage, please know she will be more flustered and embarrassed than anything whatever you just got finished doing together could have invited.
