Some of the most interesting information you can find about Hamilton’s history is in university archives. This photo is from a McMasterthesis written in 1957. Note these home on James North are called 3rd and 4th class houses. #mcmasteru#hamont #northend #hamiltonharbour #kathyrenwald (at Hamilton, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnKPT-Dus8q/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
I don’t think I’ve seen ice form this fast in the harbour before. From open water to ice in one day. #hamont #hamiltonharbour #onstorm https://www.instagram.com/p/CmjbUfLOlAT/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Some history. Where the submerged pilings have been exposed in the harbour today because of high winds-is the area where MacDonald Marine operated from 1960 or so- and before that Bastien Boatworks from approx 1850 to 1950. Lots of history underwater! #hamont, #Marina #HamiltonHarbour, #Boating #Storm#bastienboatworks https://www.instagram.com/p/Cmh2_Epu0dw/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
The wind is pushing so much water in the harbour towards the east, the dropping water level is exposing all kinds of buried beneath the surface pilings. What looks like darker dots in the Macassa Bay area are really hunks of lumber that used to anchor docks, I am counting about 14 of them that normally would be somewhat submerged. #hamont #HamiltonHarbour #hopaports #WaterLevels #OntarioStorm#hazards tonavigation https://www.instagram.com/p/CmhN_l8u9Hz/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
