"You really do push yourself too hard..."
The words are quietly said, and one could even believe Yoriichi hadn't fully intended to say them aloud and was just too focused on the little wound he was cleaning for the other.
Yoriichi could not fault him for it, of course. He never would, but it still made his heart ache to see Tanjiro always the most injured, trying so hard to protect all of those around him. Yoriichi is proud of him, of course, but...there was still a selfish part of himself that had come to view Tanjiro as what he imagines a son would be like.
A soft frown still tugs at Yoriichi's lips, eyes focused on the wound until he must glance away instead of continuing to allow his gaze to see torn blood vessels.
"I'll go with you next time, if you'll just allow me to know so that I may."
Though he quietly realizes as well, that if he does not press...Tanjiro could just as easily write it off as worry no different from another's. And he could be harmed again, when Yoriichi could have protected him.
"...I don't believe I told you of it. I once would have had a family of my own."
They were taken, but Tanjiro and Nezuko--they were here.
