so there's a funny thing in the hanamusubi line distribution that makes me curse out the music direction of pjsk in a good way.
here it is:
not once in this song does saki, who's the one experiencing doubts about going pro, sing the "I can’t say it" part.
she's so concerned about losing her friends if she admits she has doubts that she can't even tell them that she's hiding something. she doesn't want her old loneliness to come back, especially because it's 'because of her' again. this time it's her dreams, not her illness directly, but it feels all the same. going along with a dream she doesn't know if she believes in is better than being honest and risking messing up shiho’s dreams and maybe losing their friendship.
the "set my heart free" line she sings sort of references this as she's trying to walk a fine line but it's causing her so much pain. she wants to be true to herself, but aren't her friends a part of her? (is saying that overly romantic? does it matter?)
does she want to risk it? after learning how awful the isolation from her friends is?
it seems like for the moment saki's answer to this is "no."
