I get where you’re coming from, but I’ve worked in a hospital where I cleaned placenta juice from the floor, walls and bed and spent hours sanitising beds and changing sheets but I’d take that any day over my other job, working at KFC.
See, I absolutely love that you found it rewarding. And I wholeheartedly agree that what sucks for one person might not for another. But there's people talking about not taking 'essential' people for granted and the fact that waiters keep coming up is annoying me.
It still doesn't feel right to describe sanitation etc as shitty jobs but in comparison to other things they're a lot tougher and a lot more essential and to be honest most people I know who wait tables would not be able to hack one day working in a hospital at all.
I certainly didn't mean to sound like I was belittling tough positions by insinuating nobody would want to do them, if that's how it came across! I meant to say that people who do tough, essential dirty work - especially those who are satisfied with that work - are deserving of an immense amount of respect.
