Fellow Geek Sighting and also Guess What I Got?!
Right so yesterday, my mom and I are at Hancock Fabrics, which is in the middle of its going out of business sale, and we needed fabric, so we thought, why not? By pure luck, I found the legendary “black on one side and shimmery dark blue on the other” fabric that somebody (i forget who) got there and used for their Megamind cape! I’ve been searching for this fabric for literally years, and could never find it. It was seriously lucky that I found it at all, and even more so that it hadn’t been sold yet. So I’m excited about that! Anyway, while there, I noticed a girl singing Still Alive from Portal quietly. Actually singing it, not just humming or whatever. Let me tell you, they’re was a scarily high chance in those few seconds that I might join in. I almost did. Thankfully, I came to my senses. 1. My mom was right there, knows nothing about Portal, and the song is pretty weird out of context. 2. She probably would not, as my mind’s eye saw it, keep singing with me. She probably would have stopped and been like “???? Who you stranger danger such embarrassment,” and there I am singing alone. 3. Singing in public.
So yeah. I felt bad not letting her know “Hey! I know what you’re doing! I got the reference!” Like I might have just missed a valuable friendship with a cute geek. Or it might have been super awkward. So, oh well.
More importantly, Megamind Fabric!!!
SEWING PSA
Hancock fabrics going out of business sale is up to 70% off fabric (2 yard minimum) Also an additional 10% off when you by what's left on the bolt. (so total of 80% off) I got almost 50 yards of fabric for like $80. (Averaging around $1.50 s yard) Go check it outtttt Notions and such are still 40-50% off tho
I like aaaaalllllll this fabric.
Meet Princess Jolene FluffyButt! My new dress form! She's a size 18/20 dress form that I've adjusted (with the help of batting, poly-fill and dress form padding) to be my double! I'm absurdly proud of her! She should help me create cosplays for Dragon Con!! Also since Hancock Fabric is going out of business, there are some wicked sales!! I got some patterns, a few basic seeing supplies, and 6 yards (and change) of a tester cotton fabric for $uper ¢heap. I might still go back for some muslin. ALSO! The hubbs and I also rearranged several bits of the house today. We brought my desk downstairs so I have a more social environment for crafting and business (I don't want to work upstairs in secluuuuusion), and brought the chair that used to be in that corner upstairs for a cozy reading nook (for when I want the solitude). We've also packed my car with an absurd amount of things for donate (and still more to pack, but I'm out of room)! What a productive Sunday!!
Craft haul ^.^ Hancock Fabrics was closing and also stopped by a Hobby Lobby Clearance. Got a new display and many findings and toggle clasps for Bracelets. Can’t wait to work on them this summer :D
Farewell, old friend. I feel like I should give it a hunter's burial- it's been such a champion for almost 10 years.
My Hancock Fabrics going out of business haul. Three yards of my favorite lace, 4 yards of red and black lace print polyester peachskin, something that I have been looking for forever, and 3 yards of Valentines candy print. So much for not buying new fabric...
