“My mom always told me not to put scat on my hands...” -- girlfriend
Ever since I saw an advertisement for SKAT hand soap in a 1941 Popular Mechanics, I’ve wanted to own one. I’ve found three over the years, but today’s was the best priced and least beaten up -- and the largest (13 oz.) can seen, too, since the others were possibly 8 oz. It’s mine now.
Since I’ve never seen the text on the can clearly anywhere before now, here’s what it says:
A PIONEER PASTE SOAP - Used and recoomended since 1903. Cleans sinks, cooking dishes, refrigerators, baths, toilets, floors, woodwork, paint, linoleum, oilcloth, stoves -- 100 uses in the home. Works equally well with warm or cold, hard or soft water. THE SKAT CO, Hartford Conn.
DIRECTIONS - For cleaning hands, do not wet the hands.first -- Rub SKAT over the hands until dirt is thoroughly loosened, then rinse with water and dry throoughly. For home cleaning use SKAT with a damp cloth or dish mop with as little water as possible. Write for full list of uses for which SKAT has been highly recommended. Also packed in Quarts and Gallons for utmost economy. Ask for SKAT GLASS CLEAN. Wipes windows clean quickly -- costs a trifle. Money back if not ‘Best Yet’.
