Happy Valentines Day everyone! <3
Valentines day short fic! With karma, nagisa, hazama and terasaka! Oh boy!
Have this non-beta read piece that I mostly wrote while in the train this week. Credit to @handy-dandy-headcanons for the gay comment in the middle of this work.
Terasaka isn't a homophobe, he just doesn't like Karma.
I'm so sorry for the shitty formatting I can't work with Tumblr and just wanted to post this.
--------------------
It had been an incredibly stupid idea, Nagisa knew that now. Sure he loved his boyfriend to death and was glad they were spending the entirety of valentine's day together but he also wanted to use the day to help his friend Hazama with her first official date with Terasaka. She was nervous for it, he'd noticed, which is why he suggested the solution in the first place. He should have realised, however, that Karma and Terasaka were not a good combination. A double date was destined to fail miserably.
Dinner. It was just a dinner. He and Hazama agreed neither of their boyfriends would behave properly in a fancy restaurant so some midway compromise between a fast food place and a fancy restaurant was found. A decent place, really. 3 courses, proper seating and a relatively big menu. A big enough menu for Karma to find absolutely nothing he could NOT criticize.
"I'm just saying, i can probably make it better- actually, no. I KNOW i can make it better than this place can." He was pointing at some stew he saw on he menu, basically shoving it in Nagisa's face who just smiled at him in reaction.
Hazama rolled her eyes, wondering how Nagisa loved the cocky idiot so much. She did have to admit her hypocrisy, seeing as her boyfriend was another type of idiot. Not that she minded being the smart one in their relationship.
Terasaka sighed and slumped down even further than anyone at the table thought was possible to do in the restaurant's mildly comfortable booths. "Can you do better in shutting the hell up?" He grumbled.
Karma was about to bring some sarcastic comeback, Nagisa just knew it. Preventing the moment from escalating into something ridiculous he took ahold of Karma's arm and looked him in the eye.
"I'm not that big of an eater, can we share the first course?" He asked his boyfriend. Said boyfriend completely forgot about Terasaka's existence for a moment, completely taken away by Nagisa's gaze. Nagisa was very familiar with Karma's thoughts about him. The red head was a firm believer of freedom of speech when that meant he'd get to call Nagisa pretty. Nagisa really did not need another session of Karma advocating for his beauty, as if he was giving a speech and Nagisa was the subject.
Everyone ordered their food and the date continued. Karma and Terasaka couldn't help but bicker through most of it, however. Karma clearly didn't have a filter and Terasaka had no impulse control to prevent him from immediately arguing with the red head.
"As a future government worker, I believe it should be legal for me to commit tax fraud" Karma argued as he and Nagisa had the most random discussion on teaching high schoolers how to pay their taxes.
Terasaka held a tight grip on his fork. It wasn't hard for Nagisa to imagine that that grip could actually kill a human being. He tried to throw thoughts off murder out of his head as he figured the fork would probably be fine. "That ks the stupidest thing I've ever heard, you're not above the law, Akabane." Terasaka said.
"Is it still tax fraud if you legally don't have to pay?" Nagisa couldn't help but wonder out loud. Hazama shrugged in reaction and Karma smirked a little. Terasaka ignored the thought and remained on edge.
"Look, Terasaka, don't meddle with what the smart people are handling." Karma held the same cocky look on his face. "Your brain is too incompetent to comprehend what we're doing anyways"
Rage emitted from Terasaka, Nagisa noted. It was also obvious enough for anyone without Nagisa's skill to notice. He knew Hazama noticed because she carefully took Terasaka's knife and put it beside her plate where her boyfriend couldn't easily grab it.
"Oh I'm sorry, was that rude? I didn't think your brain could figure out what i was say-OOF" Karma was interrupted by Nagisa elbowing him in the side. "That wasn't necessary." He complained.
"Yes it was." Nagisa sighed, giving a pleading look at Hazama.
She got the hint and put her arm around Terasaka. "Hey big boy, perhaps pay more attention to your girlfriend at your date." She told him.
Luckily Terasaka took a note of her and turned to her, letting out an annoyed sigh. Within minutes he was completely cooled down and he and Hazama were having a lovely conversation about…Occult stuff. Whatever pleases them. Nagisa was more than happy to discuss Karma's favourite movie with him.
Just when Nagisa thought things were going well again the two started bickering again. Nagisa barely had the energy to figure out what their discussion was this time but it didn't matter. The argument turned more into both guys listing what they disliked about the other and defending their own honour. Nagisa thought what they were doing had quite the opposite effect, he really didn't think highly of either of them at that point.
He and Hazama were exchanging knowing look with each other. A second double date would not be scheduled. Both only properly returned their attention to the conversation when Terasaka used a new completely done tone in Karma's direction.
Now, Karma and Nagisa's relationship was relatively new. Most people were surprised to find out the boys had started dating, mostly because neither of them ever discussed their sexuality. Neither Karma or Nagisa really cared what others thought about homosexuality but it was still considered rude to say something about it.
"Didn't even know you were gay, Akabane" Terasaka said.
For a few seconds Karma didn't say anything. His expression was empty and didn't say a lot. Then he turned to Hazama.
"Didn't know you dated ignorant idiots, Hazama"
For some reason THAT was all that was needed for the date to escalate into hell. Both guys were furious and ignoring their dates trying to calm them down.
"I will punch you so hard you'll feel the thing you call a brain bounce all throughout your head." Karma stood up fast and incidentally knocked his plate off the table and made the flower vase topple.
"Not if I break your arm first" Terasaka screamed as he also got up.
Everyone was looking at their table. Nagisa noted Hazama trying her best to pick up all the food the guys had spilled. All Nagisa could do was try and hide in shame.
Just when they thought things couldn't get worse, they reached over the table and grabbed each other. Nagisa knew in advance that the date wouldn't go great but he wasn't prepared for his boyfriend getting physical.
"U-uhm, excuse me" Their table went silent as they noticed the waitress that carefully approached their table. "I'm going to- going to have to ask you to leave, p-please"
It wasn't long before Karma broke the uncomfortable silence. "Look what you've done now!" He complained as he looked at Terasaka.
The two started bickering again and Hazama dragged her boyfriend along with her. The only reason it went successful is because he respected her enough to deny her force. Nagisa tried doing the same with Karma but he was his usual self.
"Sir, someone will have to pay…"The waitress said, tapping Nagisa's shoulder. She probably noticed very easily he was the most sensible person to talk to, what with the two fightinf guys and the girl who was threatening to curse both of them at this point. All he could do was sigh and do so, noticing his unusual forceful manner of putting in his pin code. It was almost as if he treated the card machine as his enemy. 'Better to treat the machine like this than your boyfriend' was all he could think.
---
Standing outside of the restaurant no one in their company was happy. The most positive thing of it all was the now calm Terasaka with Hazama's arm around him.
"Well I think we're just going to spend the rest of the day with us two." Hazama said, mostly talking to Nagisa. "Thanks for trying though"
Nagisa waved her off with a light smile. The moment she was out of view he swiftly turned around to scowl at his boyfriend. "Really?" He didn't need to say more.
Judging by the look on his face, Karma did in fact feel a bit of guilt. "We'll probably have more fun when it's just the two of us anyways" He defended himself.
At first Nagisa didn't react. His face didn't change and he didn't say anything. Sure, he was calming himself down, that was part of the reason. In all honesty, however, he also just wanted to say something that kept the evening going in perhaps a more romantic direction while also making clear to Karma that what he'd done was not okay. Eventually he realised how futile his effort would be. He could help Karma but never in his life could he hope to change him. Not like Nagisa wanted him to change at all.
He took a hold of Karma's hands, face still unchanged, catching Karma off guard. He took advantage of this and pulled Karma down lightly so his boyfriend was at eye level with him. He wasn't ignorant to the surprised look on Karma's face that perhaps also showed a little fear.
"You better pay me back for this dinner"
And with that Nagisa pecked a kiss on Karma's lip before releasing his hold on him. He portrayed a small smile on his face. As bad as the dinner was he knew Hazama would force an apology out of Terasaka the next time they saw each other. Nagisa would make sure he did the same.
Karma came back to his senses as he mumbled a soft apology. Nagisa figured he could see how he ruined his boyfriends night, which was even worse considering it was their first Valentine's together.
"I think I can make it up to you." He said as he put his arm around Nagisa's shoulders. "Let's go to my place, we're more of a movie night couple anyways"
With that Nagisa couldn't disagree. He leaned in on Karma's embrace with a smile. "I think I'd like that"
Valentine's Day Maeiso
They go to restaurants and get a Valentine's day discount for couple sets
Maehara is a little extra on Valentine's, saying a lot of pickup lines, giving him chocolate that he knows Isogai loves, randomly coming up behind him and hugging him, kissing him on the cheek, that kind of stuff
Isogai laughs and blushes and honestly it just makes each other's day
Isogai has his own little challenge of telling Maehara "I love you" in another language every time he does something like that
He's gone through about 30 spoken languages, and has started doing telling him that in different ways
He's done it in Chiba and Hayami's simple respect and wrist bump, he's said it in sign language, written it down in morse code, had Sugaya teach him how to draw/paint hearts and stuff the best way
Matching couple clothes
Every year at the end of the Valentine's day, Maehara will get down on one knee and propose to Isogai with a little present
It usually takes shape as a little charm
So far he's given Isogai charms shaped like a bouquet of flowers, a heart, a cupid's bow, an angel, and a sword as Isogai is the (his) prince in shining armour
When he does that, Isogai uses whatever he's holding (a pencil, a book, his own hand if need be) to pretend and knight Maehara
Hi, @handy-dandy-headcanons, this is my first time joining in on an event, I hope my entry is decent! ❤
AssClass Valentines Day Event:
Kurahashi x Sugino
Notes:
Mild Angst, nothing too serious
Kurahashi is overwhelmed
I may be projecting a bit, since I cry when I’m super stressed and pressured, and I feel that Kurahashi might too
I know this is AssClass lol, it’s far from realistic, but being close in age with 3-E, I absolutely would feel overwhelmed and pressured at times. And so I imagine that quite a few of the class experiences that at some point.
~
The sweet scent of wildflowers engulfed her as soon as she entered the clearing, and she was greeted by blooms of pink, orange, and red. The sun shone brightly above her, blanketing her with its warmth. In contrast, a gentle breeze danced through the air and brushed her cheek. She felt neither cold nor warm, simply the feel of nature accepting her.
It was a small meadow, of sorts, on the mountain that no one else really knew about. If they did, then it simply wasn’t deemed interesting enough. But for Kurahashi, it was the perfect spot. The sky stretched out in front of her in a vivid shade of blue and the tall grass tickled her legs as she sat down. She’d come here so often, she’s memorized all the types of bugs that inhabited under the rocks and grass. Her lips curved upwards at the sight of a fuzzy caterpillar resting on a flower petal.
Kurahashi took a deep breath as she hugged her knees, willing herself to relax, let loose. She only had about twenty-five minutes left until lunch ended, and she had to force herself to smile. She was supposed to be the cheerful girl who lifted everyone’s spirits. While she never thought that was a “mask” for her, it was tiring at times. Especially on this particular day, as she felt a weight beginning to drag her down.
Touka would understand, of course. She was her best friend, her other half. They promised each other they’d always listen and help with any of their problems. But the idea of being around anyone at this moment made her stomach turn. That was why she left, under the excuse that she wanted to “look for more beetles.” No one questioned her at all, although Koro-sensei reminded her to be careful around the mountain.
She leaned her head down, feeling a sudden wave of emotion rush inside of her at the reminder of their teacher. She wouldn’t be lying if she said the cause of her stress was revolved around him, but it wasn’t that simple. Tears gathered in her eyes and she fought off the urge to cry right there. Everyone else was in the same boat as her, weren’t they? Why should she cry then -
She failed, and before she knew it, she was crying into her arms, still curled up. She was quiet but the streams of tears down her face were relentless.
“Now where did it - oh, Kurahashi!” Kurahashi’s head snapped up to see a rather surprised Sugino, about ten feet away from her. He was picking up a baseball and waved at her with his signature grin. “Sorry, sorry! I was messing around and tossing the ball, and it ended up here! Wait, I don’t think I’ve ever seen this part before...it’s cool though…”
He paused, seeming to suddenly take in the fact that she was crying, and the smile left his face quickly. He stepped closer but still kept a distance, out of respect for her space. “Ah, Kurahashi, what’s wrong? Are you okay?”
Kurahashi found herself struggling to find her voice. Her throat was choked up and she didn’t know what to say. I came here to cry to myself because I feel so overwhelmed with everything going on? “I...No. No, I’m not okay.”
As those words left her mouth, she felt like she was simultaneously drowning and being freed.
If possible, Sugino’s frown deepened and he slowly made his way over to her. He knelt down before getting comfortable in a cross-legged position beside her. There was maybe ten centimeters separating them. “Do you want to talk about it?” He asked softly, taking on a gentle tone that she wasn’t used to hearing from him.
Before she could respond, he spoke up again. “You can tell me anything, and I promise, it will stay between us,” Sugino hastily added, his voice still soft. “I understand those times when you want to vent… but like not to someone you’re close to.”
Kurahashi felt a smile form on her face, despite herself. She straightened up and shifted into the same cross-legged pose he was in. “Um…”
“Wait!” Sugino interrupted again, reaching into his pocket. He pulled out a tiny packet of tissues and held it out to her with a sheepish grin. “Guess I should’ve given these to you first.”
A short laugh escaped her lips, and she accepted the tissues gratefully. His dorky nature was putting her at ease better than the breeze and grass were. She dabbed off the tears on her face, subtly aware of him watching her.
She took another deep breath before speaking. “I’m just...so overwhelmed. Like, it’s starting to feel like a lot. Having to save the world from...Koro-sensei.” Her stomach turned at that last statement, and she pushed down the fresh new wave of tears threatening to fall.
Kurahashi swallowed and continued, rubbing a strand of grass between her thumb and forefinger. “And it’s hard having to be so cheery all the time. Like, I love being happy, but maybe that’s what everyone expects from me, right? For me to be the token happy-go-lucky weirdo who likes bugs?”
“That’s not it,” Sugino cut in. He’d been listening to her so intently and quietly, she’d almost forgotten he was there. She looked up to see him gazing at the open sky laid out in front of them.
He turned to her, and Kurahashi was surprised to see the look of conviction in his blue orbs. “Yeah, you’re like the sweetest girl in the class. Yeah, you give terrific hugs. Yes, you’re strangely fond of bugs. But that’s not what you are to the class.”
Kurahashi was positive her body went absolutely still at this point.
Sugino grinned at her, bright and brimming with admiration. “You’re crazy empathetic and able to endear yourself to everyone. The whole class can’t help but love being around you because you’re so trusting.”
Her cheeks had begun to heat up by now, she was certain of that.
Sugino’s gaze fell past her and she gestured to the thick forest behind them. “You see that light shining through the leaves? That’s what you are to Class E. Even in our darkest times, we can count on you to make things better, just by being you.”
Kurahashi felt the knot in her stomach completely unravel at his words, only to be replaced with a fluttering sensation. “Wow,” she whispered, honestly floored. “Thank you, Sugi-chan.”
He flashed her another smile and picked himself off the ground before extending a hand to her. “I’m glad you’re feeling better.”
Kurahashi took his hand and was pulled to her feet. “So…I give good hugs, huh?” She asked playfully.
Sugino’s face reddened, and he grabbed the back of his neck, sheepishly. “Uh, you know, Kayano mentioned it before...and so did Fuwa…”
Kurahashi beamed up at him. “Sugi-chan, can I give you one of my terrific hugs?”
Sugino laughed and outstretched his arms, his face still a cute shade of red. “Will it live up to the hype?”
“Definitely.”
Henlo glorious people! Tis Valentine’s Day event!
As per suggestion @assclass-conspiracies , I would like to hold a mini baby valentine’s event!!
As it’s very close to the day it won’t be a giant thing that’s required or anything it’s just a little fun thing to do!
Rules/points??:
It’s only small! So you can do a mini fic, a mini art, or even a set of headcanons of your OTP!
I’m gonna make the rule of you have to write for your own Desires like don’t write karmagisa just to get credit in the fandom, write what you want to see because that’s really interesting seeing what other people like instead of just reading what’s out there for fandom points. it’s all about you! Write for yourselves! Your valentines gift to yourself is self love!
Basically don’t feel forced to write for the fandom for credit and don’t feel like you have to write strictly for your otp- just write for you and what you want to write that is also valentines themed that’s all ^^
^^^^on those points Dont hate anyone for what they write- if they want to do Sugaya x Sugino then that’s totally chill even if you don’t agree!
AND no toxic ships please- I understand dynamics but for the sake of this blog and other candidates I don’t want any teacher/student ROMANCE fics or anything abusive. Once again, things like playing hard to get is fine as long as that is reiterated, and likewise if you wanted to write a student being friendly for a teacher that’s okay too (Yada giving Irina a rose to say Thankyou for helping her with French or whatever is okay as long as it’s platonic)
Finally!! Most importantly!! Use the tag: handy dandy valentines so I can find and repost all the fics!
That said- happy creating! I’ll be more than happy to answer questions in asks or DMs ^^
AssClass Valentines Day Event:
Kayano x Okuda
Just some fluff with a tinge of angst, mentions of Kayano’s old life, Aguri, and pain from tentacle implants.
This was actually written for rarepair week, but I was too late o_O. So I actually am so glad for this valentines event, because I can post it now!
~
“Kayano-san?” Okuda called out, her voice soft and sweet in contrast to the booming music playing at the karaoke club they were at. She played with the end of her braid, a sign of her nervousness. “Um, have you picked a song yet?”
“Uh, almost! I’m just deciding between these two!” Another fake smile, bursting with cuteness that just wasn’t her.
It had, naturally, been Sugino’s idea at first. At the end of a long week, he piped up with the suggestion to wind down with some “crappy singing and good food.” She had been the first to agree, but it wasn’t all that genuine. She just needed to play the part, after all, and her designated role was the “cheerful, outgoing” sidekick-girl. Someone who would jump at this kind of thing, even if she was hesitant underneath.
Karaoke was fun in concept, but the actual thing gave her a headache. The bright lights, loud sounds, crowds of people - all of it reminded her of the movie sets she had grown up in. And after months of filming and being surrounded by all of that in work, it wasn’t the first idea that popped up in her head when she wanted to relax with friends. And now, the familiarity that it carried stung her. Another reminder of things - people - she couldn’t have anymore. Bitterness settled into her heart long ago, but it seemed the pain would never go away, both physical and emotional.
“Why don’t you two do a duet?” Kayano glanced up, shaking off the dark memories. Sugino was grinning at her while Okuda seemed to shy away even more than she usually did. Were her cheeks pink…?
“Who? Me and Okuda-san?”
“Yeah! Let’s all split into pairs! Nagisa, you go with Karma since he’ll only pick rock songs, and you’re cool with everything. And I’ll,” Sugino paused, a sly grin on his face that was instantly cancelled out by the blush on his face, ”sing with Kanzaki-san!”
Karma raised an eyebrow and made some type of snarky remark while Nagisa sweatdropped at them both. Kanzaki, ever so graceful, agreed to the duet and Sugino looked like he combusted inside. Kayano tuned all of them out to focus on Okuda, who looked slightly less pink now.
“I’m down to do a duet if you are,” Kayano told her, surprising even herself with how genuine that sounded. She really was happy to sing with the purple-haired chemist. Okuda had been nothing but kind to her since they’d become friends.
Okuda finally looked up and beamed at her. “M-me too! I mean, yes! I-I want to do a duet with Kayano-san.”
Kayano was starting to feel a little bit lightheaded, but she chalked it up to the thundering bass of the music and the flashing lights. “Okay! Let’s do the song you picked out.”
Nagisa and Karma opted to go first, although the former was noticeably more hesitant. Their song choice was some obscure rock melody with lots of belting out. Kayano had never heard it before, but it was definitely “Karma-ish” to pick something no one would know or predict.
Next up, it was her and Okuda. Kayano took a sharp breath as her hands wrapped around the cold microphone. God, those stupid implants chose a terrific time to hurt like hell. She felt like collapsing onto the ground.
Kayano tensed up slightly when she felt a hand gently hold onto her own. She turned to see a smiling Okuda. “I’m kind of nervous to do this. Well, really nervous. But I’m glad Kayano-san is singing with me, so I’m not alone.” Her face brightened. “Let’s have fun!”
Kayano’s lips curved up into a honest smile and she squeezed the other girl’s fingers, reassuringly. “Of course, Okuda-san,” she replied softly, feeling her chest tighten with affection.
She swore the pain lessened considerably for the rest of the night.
