No guilt. No feeling bad. Life happens to fanfic writers. Put that energy into your novel. You wrote something for free. Keep in mind you therefore don't anyone shit. And you know I'm a big fan. But your life goals exceed my little fan desires. We will survive. You go out there and live your life and thrive.

I appreciate these rallying words very much. I’m known to flagellate myself with the guilt stick, so it’s really good to hear that no flagellation is necessary -- tho some flagellating is still gonna happen cuz that’s the way I be! 

My life goals are important to me, but your little fan desires matter, too! The combined force of our little fan desires can move mountains -- and maybe even network executives. ;) And my guilt isn’t only about you guys; the story itself haunts me. I’d like to finish it, someday. And if not, to complete it in a makeshift way that allows me to experience at least a ghost of what that ending would have been. That’s why I continue to float -- to very, very subtly float; I’m not gonna make a separate post about this because I don’t want to advertise widely; this offer is only open to close readers -- the possibility of sending out a plot summary to anyone who’s interested. I’m still on the fence about actually doing this, but for those who’ve messaged me about it, I’ve got your email and will certainly let you know if I go through with it.

I picked up on this in the last chapter. He was more focused on Will than the twin. And he was bleeding a lot. Some parents are really focused more on the spouse than the child. It's such an interesting dynamic.

Because I am the worst at music, I fell in love with a handful of Sufjan Stevens songs 10 years ago, but am only just now listening to the rest of the albums they came from. [covers my face with my hands]

This is what I felt so deeply but was unable to express. So many bad story choices made in this. So flat. So strange. And yet... I was moved by this mess of a mess. It's the only Star Wars film I saw once. Once was enough and yet it has stayed with me.

I’m so glad you replied to this because I too keep thinking about this movie!!!! And now you’ve given me an excuse to be like AND ANOTHER THING---

Because it’s still just BUCK WILD to me how the one moment where Rogue One coalesces into a cohesive point is when Cassian is dragging Jyn over how her ideological purity gets nothing fucking done, amazingly the word “luxury” getting its second use as a weapon in this movie with his destroying “We don’t all have the luxury of deciding when and where we want to care about something.” But the MOVIE seems to think its clarion moment is later with Jyn suddenly placed in the role of inspiring the rebel leaders, and not only does she do this by repeating another of Cassian’s lines, his memorable “Rebellions are built on hope,” but he doesn’t even get a reaction shot because he’s not even in the room, thereby robbing that moment of any cohesion it could have had, and instead making it feel like they’d just forgotten they’d already had someone else say that.

And then I’m like Tarra don’t be ridiculous, the most buck wild thing about Rogue One is definitely the tentacle torture porn interlude.

But still, what truly gets at me, what has this movie still hanging on to my heart, is how much potential for things I really love are in this. Probably Rogue One is like, three movies. There’s the movie they were making, there’s the movie at the core of that one that they could have cracked it open to reveal, and then there’s the movie laid down over all of it through some serious top-down producing. Which frankly they had to do, because neither of the other ones are really Star Wars movies as would slot in where this one does in the thematic timeline, as minimoonstar talks about very well here. Especially that one deep at the core we just catch glimpses of, because that’s the story of Space Jim Prideaux, and that’s what I waaaannnt. I would also have accepted the stories of Space Charles & Erik or Space Nux in a heartbeat.

Ahhh I’m so PLEASED you liked it!! Especially that moment, as it was the result of a new #process I stumbled into, where I essentially wrote jokey sum-up meta of my own fic to figure out what the key/missing notes were, and then went over it again sowing those in to the thing itself. Very glad to hear that was fruitful! :)
