Many of us focus a lot on Hangouts on Air (HOA) - the broadcasting tool we love to use for live streaming information & entertainment but there is a lot of wonderful action via the Hangouts side of things. This stand-alone page/site offers a new focus (aka landing page) on "Communications".

Hangouts Phone Calling

Faster Connections to Phone Calls via Google Hangouts

When you want to use Hangouts via your desktop to make phone calls instead of video calls, you can connect faster now.

We still can't make a phone call from within a Hangout on Air (HOA), but this new update will allow for a faster connection to happen when using the rest of the Hangout tool-set.

Calling from desktop just got better. We're excited to announce: 

* Faster call connections right inside of Gmail and Inbox

* Quicker call answering for incoming Google Voice calls

Start a phone call by clicking the phone tab in Gmail, or by searching for a phone number in Hangouts. You can also try this in the Hangouts Chrome App: http://goo.gl/FujGNb

Nonverbal Communication in our Computer Driven World Join us for +Glass in the Class session where we focus on what we see when we connect with others online. Not so long ago we mainly read what others typed... then we got to watch a video they made, but now... We See Them Live! How does that change things? Does seeing people live affect the process of building Trust? Should we care about impressions people have when they see us? But only your thumbnail and only on the Inside of the Hangout Interface. This change just happened on the 19th of June, 2014. Check out this quick 2 minute video that shows the inside of a HOA broadcast. It helps you understand why the thumbnail change matters and you'll also get a quick view of another update that just happened called "Pinning". We used to call the same function "Blue Boxing" but now that the box around the thumbnail image is white, we likely will start calling it "pinning".
