Hanji had come over to visit as she often does, and upon it being time for Gunner – Levi’s german shepherd – to be taken out for a walk, she volunteered to take him around the block.

House to himself and nothing more to do until they returned, Levi in the meantime would be getting some chores done; not that he thought they’d be gone for long, he expected Gunner to turn their walk into a jog soon enough.

Drums and bass and guitar chords soon filled the air through desktop speakers as he worked, and it wasn’t long before he got much more into things than anticipated. It wasn’t unheard of, for Levi to sing or move to the beat of the music he enjoyed, but it certainly wasn’t something witnessed often.

Perhaps he was in an extra good mood today.

“No lies and no deceiving, man is what he loves.I keep tryin’ to conceive that death is from above.”

“I get mine and make no excuses; waste of precious breath.”

“The sun shines on everyone, everyone love yourself to death.”

The deep tones of his voice hovered just below the volume of the tune he was singing along to, fit surprisingly nice with it as he cleaned the various surfaces in his living room. Head occasionally bopped in time with the music, hips making subtle swings with each clap of the beat as he walked towards the kitchen.“So you gotta fire up, you gotta let go.You’ll never be loved ‘til you’ve made your own.”

The door clicked open, clicked shut, soft laughter sounding as Gunner trotted past him.

“You gotta face up, you gotta get yours.You never know the top ‘til you get too low.”

He lip-synched the words as he turned to where she stood just past the doorway, his face more full of emotion and expression than most are ever used to seeing. Walking forward and closing the gap between them however he deadpanned, stared at her while waiting for the song to boom forth with its final chorus.

“What’re you laughing at, huh?” He tossed his cleaning cloth to the side and tugged lightly at her wrists, pulled her further into the room. “Come on, it’s about to end, and I’m not about to keep making a fool of myself on my own.”

The gentle piano faded, and the drums kicked in one last time.

The captain slowly made his way down to Hanji’s place. He was told to go to her for really anything. Some of the other people weren’t as lenient or friendly, such as Levi. He wasn’t sure how he would like this Hanji person but why not just try and meet with her. If he was going to be talking to her for any reason he might as well get to know her first.

“Hello?” He asked, knocking on her door. He was hopeful that he had the right place. There was nothing worse than knocking on someone’s door and getting someone you weren’t expecting.
