Gavin's dissociation carries over into the next day. He can barely focus on the words on his screen. It’s probably only a matter of time before Jeff puts him on administrative leave. He can’t do this job and not be present. Innocent people get hurt when that happens.
Tina’s made her rounds twice this morning to check on him, only to get her head bitten clean off for her trouble. Thankfully, everyone else took the hint and avoided him like the plague.
Well, everyone but one.
“Good morning, Detective,” the bot chirps brightly, souring Gavin’s already shit mood. His eyes don't move off the screen he's pretending to read.
“What do you want, plastic?”
“I was just bringing you the coffee you asked for.”
Gavin blinks up at Connor. Was he still fucking asleep? He definitely didn't ask the bot for coffee.
“Huh?”
Connor’s smile only got wider, setting the mug of hot coffee on the man’s messy desk.
“I have the voice recording,” he offers, playing the voice clip through a secondary speaker.
“‘Hey! Get me a coffee, dipshit! Well? Get a move on!’”
Gavin winces at his own harsh tone on the playback. He really was in a mood that day…
“You’re bringing me the coffee I asked for,” Gavin confirms, “5 months ago?”
I'm SO excited to be working on something like this! It's really forcing me to learn and understand perspective in a challenging, but very fun way because I cannot for the life of me do boring studies..
