btw when u get into reading you can read WHATEVER you want. You don't have to read classics, what your family/friends read, what's limited to your local library, don't have to read broad or loved genres. You can also stop reading a book whenever you want. If feel like your forcing yourself to read a book you hate and it's making you read less in general, stop reading that book.
every time the eastern US starts freaking out about smoke blowing in from canada i have to hold my tongue so badly because i’m genuinely filled w so much empathy for people experiencing heavy smoke from wildfires—it sucks! it hurts to breathe, and i don’t even have any respiratory conditions. and it’s scary to look at! and wonder about how it’s affecting you!!
it’s hard tho because the conversation always seems to skew in such a frustrating direction where 1. many people don’t seem to realize that the US also has lots of wildfires, even right now, 2. people are so irritated with how their life is affected that they become angry towards those losing their homes and 3. they’d lead you to believe that they’re the only people in north america who have ever had smoke blow in from another country? the worst smoke we get where i live is almost always from california, washington, etc. rather than other parts of british columbia. and again it sucks a lot to deal with, but as someone who was maybe 5km from having to evacuate from wildfires once (we were packed up and ready to go if needed), that feeling is just so terrifying that i can’t imagine ever seeing smoke and feeling irate towards the people in the cities and towns actually burning :/
anyway climate change affects us all, and it certainly doesn’t respect borders, hence why it needs a global solution 👍
this is such an underrated arkco moment from volume 6 of witch hat imo :’) it marks a subtle turning point in their relationship — agott has to contend with the fact that her past hasn’t actually impacted how coco sees their friendship.
in fact, coco prefers present-day agott over anything. “I watch you all the time, when you’re busy drawing”: I take notice of you, of how you’ve grown, of the care you put into your work. agott assumes that coco will believe loroga and the rumour because people before coco believed rumours over her truth. she’s projecting so heavily onto coco; “how can you… be so certain?”. agott has now met a new girl, an outsider, who unashamedly believes in her—how can agott even begin to understand this? it sets up her apology in chapter 58 so well. 🥹
That's it. Love You Teacher is over and I'm sad. (This is long, I apologise).
This series was something else. Funny, emotional, real. It made me laugh, it made me cry, and it also portrayed looking after someone with an illness that they can't help. It showed family, and how sometimes that family can cause trauma without even meaning to, but also maybe even being aware a little bit. Even maybe postpartum depression that manifested into something more severe? It showed growth and healing, and how important children's brains are. And even adult brains. But most importantly, it showed love.
Love between mum, dad, and child. Even it was a sad journey; Pobmek with his mum, and his need for acceptance, it took his mum to almost 'losing' him for her to see sense, and some parents don't have that kind of luck. Solar's relationship between his adoptive mum, who loved him so much that she wanted to protect him from the truth, but almost made things worse by not telling him the truth, but she did it out of love, and I understand that. His mother, who I thought, and lets be really real here, hated Sun's existence. But lo and behold, we misjudged, and it was her immense unwavering love for Sun that ended her life; pushing him out of the way to save her baby. That scene broke me, I swear. And a love between father and son. Healing, explanation on Solar's dad's side. And turning up, like Four's dad. The connections between parents and child in this series even healed something in me.
Love between friends. Love between friends is sacred. It's one of the most important things I value in life, and even though one of my best friend doesn't talk to me anymore (I moved to a different county, and she just, decided I wasn't worth it anymore? I don't know, however, my best friend who lives half way across the world in Australia, as I grew up there, we still value our friendship, been best friends for over fifteen years I'm pretty sure, anyway, I digress), I still hold what we had close to my heart even though sometimes it hurts. Friends are life, and what this series showed was just that, weather you're all adults, or children, having that support is so important, having that love is so important. And they captured it beautifully.
Love between teacher and student. We've all seen those videos of celebs or college students going back to their high school, or primary school, or middle school to visit their favourite teachers, and that's because all it takes is one teacher to be there for you to change the direction of your life, one teacher to be a shoulder to cry on, and to tell you everything will be okay. So important. Teachers are the foundation of your education and they're so important. Again, like Four recieving an A and crying because he didn't think he would get a good grade, but Pobmek reassured him that he didn't the work, so he deserved the grade.
And love between two people. Pobmek and Solar loved each other so much, and it shows in their actions towards each other. Even though he has no idea what he was doing, and by the end of it, Pobmek was exhausted, he never gave up and asked for help when he needed, and we saw that wasn't the easiest thing for Pobmek to do. Solar helped Pobmek in ways I would love to possess, I mean, I'm okay at it, but there's always more I think I could do. But Pobmek and Solar, even though they went through so much, and not every couple could survive that, lets be real, they still came out on the other end, and got engaged. Even the love between Pobmek, Solar and Little Sun, I cried with them when they said goodbye to him. Love conquers all.
Everyone did such an amazing job with this series. Perth and Santa... What can I say? Simply incredible, showing love, and being there for someone even though they're not 100% themselves. Being there for your students, understanding, listening, empowering them. This series was perfect, I swear. Sammy and Kay were amazing too, the perfect foursome! And seeing Sea and Keen making a cameo warmed my heart as I love Sea and Keen so much, Head 2 Head was so good, and I fell in love with them, their chemistry is incredible. Would I like a season 2 with Sea and Keen, maybe, but I can't see that happening as I have no idea how they would write it.
Overall all, 10/10. And I'm going to miss it.
sometimes I'm like "oh my adhd isn't that bad" but I just got distracted for 20 minutes looking at vanilla extract online. not because I need it just because I was curious. and that's with my full dose of meds
Signs I've received in the last 3 days from Hekate after converting to Wicca:
I was telling someone in the car today about Hekate and how she helps the dead and we immediately got stuck behind a funeral procession on the way home.
Two different sets of black dogs coming across me during a nature walk. There were two little black dogs the other day, then two HUGE black dogs today that I saw during an emotional time.
Dreams of crows, spiders, black beetles, and spirits.
Soooo many synchronizations involving threes! I woke up last night at 3:33 am, fully rested and ready to begin my day. A short-term disability payment coming in for the first time on the 8th, my nephew's birthday is on the 8th, and a job fair at the place I've always wanted to work at is also on the 8th of January! An unexpected gift of a 3-wicked dark candle that I dedicated to Hekate.
I've come across a lot of things with owls on them in the last 3 days.
A sense of peace and belonging and the knowledge that I am not alone through these signs. A lot of people are intimidated by her but she brings me so much comfort.
me and myself every time a medical tv show has someone get defibrillated for asystole
