I know people have probably heard this a ton of times, but I feel like it's my turn from a couple recent events
I do not fuck with generative AI. If you even so much as a mention you utilize it you're going on my block list.
I've had to block someone a week or so ago for defending their AI generated image, and today blocked someone I was closer mutuals with upon discovering their use of gen AI. Not gonna be naming them here, creating beef just isn't my style.
Even if you utilize generative AI as a legitimate work tool (ie creating spreadsheets), you are still contributing to gen AI's overconsumption of water, unbalanced power over economics, theft of millions of people's literature and artistic work (including the destruction of rare antique books that are no longer being printed), and many other ethical concerns. Until those concerns could be reasonably sorted out, using gen AI for anything at all is entirely unethical no matter if you're a witch or not.
I'm normally not the type of person to make a DNI post, if I ever see anything else I don't agree with (ie transphobia) I simply block and move on. But the aforementioned people have told me they've felt inspired from my philosophy and practice, but the potential reality of any of them putting their own iterations of my thoughts and ideas through AI makes me very uncomfortable, as one of them described they "bounce ideas" off of AI because they felt it was too much of a hassle to discuss with real people.
Edit: Also want to be transparent about my own usage of generative AI in the past as an older teenager through early twenties. Mostly just chatbots, but also a good amount of image generation. It wasn't until late 2023 or so that the economic, environmental, and intellectual harm of it was made aware to me. At that point I had a full blown dopamine addiction to chatbots during a hard time in my life. I wasn't able to fully shake off my usage of it until around mid-2024. If I'm going to condemn those who still currently use genAI, I feel it's only fair that I'm honest about my own history with it as well.
