If “show me how you’d watch someone die” wasn’t part of the Hannibal Lecter audition…
I just got the deepest shiver watching Mads as Hannibal watching Bella succumb to her morph*ne. Not blinking because he’s animalistic like that, but also not wanting to miss a single moment of this woman’s life leaving her body. Honoring her in his own way, and convinced for a moment that he’s let her die, but ultimately leaving it to the coin.
Can I also say I really enjoyed Gina Torres’ and Mads Mikkelsen’s chemistry?
Tbh, one of the things about the series that I keep thinking about is where exactly Abigail was when she was presumed dead. According to the creators, they were considering showing in the third season that it was Abigail who was found by Beverly in Hannibal's basement (Takiawase). And in The Wrath of the Lamb Hannibal says Will that Abigail was with him in the cliff house.
I think Abigail really was at Hannibal's house, but after Beverly found her, Hannibal moved her to the cliff house but let me expand on that.
So my theory is that yes, Beverly did find Abigail at Hannibal's basement and this made him decide that Abigail was not safe in his house after all, so he had to move her somewhere. However, since he was still playing with Jack using Miriam, he had to get rid of her from the cliff house to two of them never meet (and team up maybe?) and so, when he moved Abigail to the cliff house, he left Miriam so that Jack would find her. He had to act quickly if he wanted to free Will from the facility and since he was connecting the Copycat's crimes with those of the Ripper.
Just some Abigail smiling in episodes number 4 of every season for no reason: Oeuf, Takiawase, Aperitivo (and none of these smiles are real (I'm reminding y'all that she was stoned in Oeuf))
Love in the Hannibal's eyes: Naka-choko, Mizumono and Primavera
Thinking about how the creators of Hannibal considered showing us that Beverly saw in Hannibal's basement living Abigail and how Abigail possibly could somehow help Hannibal with Beverly's tableau.
A wounded bird... (analysis below gifs)
Chilton comparing Will to a wounded bird
Bedelia about a wounded bird in the grass
The Wrath of the Lamb
Rewatching season two again, I realized that it wasn't Bedelia who first said something about a wounded bird, but Chilton! In "Takiawase", Chilton states that Will is a poor, confused, wounded bird for Doctor Bloom and Jack Crawford, but he sees psychopathic tendencies in him.
In "... and the woman clothed in the sun" Bedelia talks about a wounded bird in the grass and that her first thought would be to kill it, but of course she wouldn't do it. She claims Will isn't a killer, but Hannibal made him think he is, and out of his compassion, he's capable only of righteous violence, so in other words (and according to me): in her eyes Will is as weak and defenseless as a wounded bird. Bedelia also advises him that the next time he wants to help someone, he should consider to crush them instead to save himself trouble, because extreme acts of cruelty require a high degree of empathy (and Will is an empath). And that's what Will decides to do in the last episode.
Will Graham was an wounded bird the whole time. In the eyes of his friends and co-workers, he was a poor, little, wounded bird, a fragile teacup, as Hannibal put it. Bedelia's words also suggest that she considers him as a wounded bird. In the final episode, Will decides to kill the said bird and show everyone that he is neither weak nor wounded bird at all. (Chiton isn't such a dumb-dumb after all...)
[HANNIBAL S02E04 SPOILERS]
Okay, a thing I don't get is why everyone's so angry with Beverly's death. IT WAS SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN AT SOME TIME DAMMIT. Yes, I'm a bit fustrated she died because she was a great character and she gave something to the audience but damn fannibals.. chill the fuck down.
