Hannibal (smiling looking at both of them) : "It's not that kind of party"

Bedelia (reassured) : no it really isnt.

Antony : Shame. You both suddenly seems fascinating.

Hannibal Season 3 Finalle

Okay, just finished the last episode of Hannibal season 3.

(this is my first txt post so please bear with me)

There are no words that I am able to put together that can express how satisphied, amazed, mesmeriezed and emotionally crippled I am from this episode.

Personally when I try to categorise Hannibal to myself and my friends I refer to it in the term of Progressive/Artistic-Horror. This episode is a prime example from the cinematography, use of music/score, set pieces/scenery, and of course the stagering acting/performances from the entire cast and the rich as well as masterfully conducted and created writing for this episode.

Bryan Fuller is a genius as well as a master class Tomas Harris DJ, there is trully no other tv show or movie that has played arround with the source matterial and received such a possitive reaction from new and existing fans and in my opinion elevated it to another level.

The episode begings in the same fashion as the previous 6 by picking up right after or even during the last moments of the previous episode. Now for the next 7 to 10 minutes we get a quite faithfull adaptation of the Red Dragon book ending were frencis tests Riba, sets fire to the house and then proceeds to shoot himself in the face.

This scene came as a suprise to me due to the fact it was in the very begining of the episode and because of it I was already in a state of ‘ooohh heeell nooooo’ . However it also caused me to feel that although it was perfect in its execution in some way i felt as though, is this really the way the Dragon ends in this series as if it was too rushed.

But oh man how wrong was I?? I am extactic to tell you I was tricked, hoodwincked and completely fooled :). I love it when Hannibal does that don’t you?

Following the mind blowing start of the episode (pun intended... i’m not sorry) we see Riba and Will in the hospital were a shaken and traumatised Riba is explaining to Will what happened. It is in this moment we hear Will utter a phrase that resonates on multiple levels in the episode.

He couldn’t kill you and he couldn’t watch you die.

For the purpose of this scene he is refering to Francis Dolerhide and his love for Riba wich fuelled his torment with the Red Dragon that caused him to want to remain a man/human for her. It is due to her kindness and perseption of D. that stopped him from persuing other families and saved lives. In this moment Will drives that point home by saying there is nothing wrong with you, this is his subtle way of telling her she was not wrong to love him and her way of looking at life is not wrong.

After this scene ends I was on the edge of my seat the whole episode because now ladies and gentelmen, now we are in unexplored territory were anything, anything can happen. Were this show thrives and now we enter the mouth of the beast (Bediliah refference) or its mindpalace.

Now Hannibal and Will discuss the aftermath and we see a rather disapointed/deflated hannibal he expected more of a battle between him and Will perhaps?? Anyway he was rooting for him it must count for something, now all he has is the joy of poor Chilton being a walking human-BBQ......

Maybe also playing with Wills mind some more by asking him if there is any point in him going home to his familly now they are safe? Here we see Will stating he wants his life to go back to being the same with his wife and Hannibal asks Will to think of him when it gets to difficult.

Now what happens next is what i like to call ultimate shade throwing we see Will aproach and touch the glass a seemingly tender gesture and Hannibals features look pleased. But then Will says he knew Hannibal would turn himself in because he rejected him. This takes Hannibals power away from the situation and as a last attempt to gain it back he asks Will if it was good to see him as  last jab to him simce we all know he wants to say yes but is in dennial.

And then it happened he’s alive... he’s AAAALIVEEEE?? The Great Red Dragon lives and is that not amazing? He and Will come to a mutual understanding that Lecter betrayed them... I wonder were this is going.

And now for those who missed how he pulled it off we get a hillarious an detailed explenation by the science bros in the FBI and then Will convincing Jack to go allong with his plan to kil pressumably the Dragon as well as Hannibal. And here we are wondering if Will is talking about what D wants to kill Lecter for or is it himself. We are torn between is it one or the other? Will he kill him wont he??

The plot thickens

Next Will and Bediliah have one of their most intereasting conversations yet were we asume he has told her the plan to break Lecter out and states Hannibal will not be caught a second time meaning he will either kill him or let him go. This is his Becoming. Bediliah is quick to get the suggestion that meat is back on the menu *incert Lord of the Rings joke here* and Hannibal will be able to eat her now and everyone else....... ready or not here he comes. (internally and physically way to exited)

Then we are treated to some wonderfull visual reversal eye candy as we re live Chilltons Becoming.... becoming a human BBQ. And we see a brilliant reversal of of roles for Chillton and Allanna from episode one. Where now Allanna has power, money and a familly and Chillton is left with nothing but his injuries. It is intereasting to see that in the begining Allanna was bent on killing Lecter and now owes half of what she has to him and now she is going to let him go and do to her what she did to Chillton. I think seeing Chilton is her way of remembering not to underestimate Hannibal but also a reflection of how he changed her and if her becoming is yet to arrive will it be enough to save her.

As Allanna goes to Hannibal in order to propose a deal to capture the Dragon we see Hannibal get to verbalise and mannifest what he has had over Allanna the whole time. Since the second half of the season we see Allanna exerting her power over Lecter taking his priviledges well now he take it all away from he by chillingly delivering the line we all know to be true. You died in my kitchen Allanna the day you decided to be brave, your wife your child they belong to me, you made a bargain for Wills life and I spun you gold.

Now we see Jack, Allanna and Will discussing how it will all go down seeing this scene I know deep down they are all prepearing for the worst to happen and Hannibal to be let loose on them. However do you think they were expecting Will to let him go ? (food for thought)

Now we get a very amusing scene I like to call reverse ultimate shade were Hannibal playfully and humurusly get Will to say please for his help and we get the wonderful line ding dong the Dragons not dead also... the mic drop what more do you want??

and thats pretty much it right? not much after that.... oohh wait you mean the ultimate storm of devastation and eternal heart ache ??

Well lets say Hannibals staged escape did not go the way Jack had envisioned it were Dolarhide im gessing from Will tipping him off killed the agents garding them in a pretty sweet and short shoot out. Jacks face when finding the van just makes me believe deep down he knew this is what would happen from his and Wills previous conversations in the season, however we can tell he is sadened by the deaths before him or more like a combo of sad and tiered like he has seen this on repeat to much.

Anyway we see Hannibal and Will leave in a police car were some rather humurus lines are used like going my way??

Shot of Allanna and familly flyyyyyyyying awaaaaayyyy (peace out) did you notice she had dudes with machine guns to escort them?

And now it is here the moment you thought you would never see Hannibals secret beach house on a cliff do not let the beautifull scenery fool you because here is the finall showdown I beleived like a fool we were denied in the start of the episode.

The scene throughout has beautifull music playing in the backround that I apriciated more the second time watching this.

We finally have Will and Hannibal alone were Hannibal knows full well Wills plan to have him killed by D and askes will he watch and we see and exchange of mutual understanding between them were Will states its just fine if he cant save himself seemingly content on diying here with him. The moment is subtle between them and then the buble of familliarity is brokes ..... by a bullet....through a window and through Hannibal and the probably really expensive wine that was wasted on the floor.... that Hannibal probably thought was a big waste and mess on his floor ohhh look im bleeding.

Him and D talk while he is about to film his death stating that it will be a beautifull video to watch back. Now here I am stuck unable to move amuscle afraid the magic of this episode will be gone and holding my breath waiting for what Will might do.

He sips his wine.... and then all shit breaks loose.

Will gets stabbed in the face and thrown outside Will stabs Dolerhide with the knife then he gets knifed in the left part of the chest. D and Lecter strugle and then the music changes (beautiful and fitting) Will and Hannibal both attack D one with a knife the other with an axe. The shot is beond beautifull knowing the bong developed between the two over the show and seeing Will gut D in the stomach as a parallel to Hannibal last season finalle was really cathartic in some really odd way. Oh and the Hannibal bits his throat out and there lies the Great Red Dragon defeated by the Murder husbands tag team in a beautifull artistic and tastefull set of wings made of blood.

‘It really does look black in the moonlight.’

We see another parallel between Hannibal and Will this time as this time they both hug and embrase with Will understanding what Hannibal always wanted for him.

‘Its beautifull’.

And then it hits you they are to close to the cliff and they fall off or Will pushes them off.

In this moment you are speechless because you feel as thought you have invaded a moment of the utmost privacy. And you just sit there as the credits roll.... wondering why is it over? the moment is on repeat and then you get the after credits scene to Miss Bediliah that has cut off her own leg and prepeared it for Hannibals return. This is the moment you realise how this show has left you waiting for Hannibal and Wills return.

And that is all i have to say I loved it, I want a season 4 or at least 2 or 3 movies anything i neeeeeed more.
