Within is a lovingly wrapped item. It stank of blood and metal. Some of it seeping out along the bottom of the box. Didn't that clockwork heart seem... Familiar?
The all-too-pungent scent of blood had him draw back slightly with a mild grimace. He could have believed that one of the ‘boys’ left him something if it wasn’t for the fact that it was boxed up. That, and what was inside was metallic and not a freshly hunted rabbit. When he realized just what it was his heart dropped like a lead weight into his stomach.
He resisted the urge to immediately react and regarded the ‘gift’ on a more logical than emotional level. At least that was the intention. The design was just familiar enough to have him out of his seat, and out the door. He didn’t bother with a phone call; he wanted to seek her out himself.
