Ashveil protects Hanyu. not in battle, no.
instead, he wraps a warm around their shoulder and pulls them closer, guiding their absentminded, withdrawn steps away from the edge of that roof. instead, he drops by wherever they're residing, whenever he's awake, and gives them small portions of food. instead, when they break their weapon, he helps them fix it and polish it. instead, he sits there and waits out those bad nights with them. instead, he just protects them- finding them and pulling them away from their Ego. from the ledge in that shadows home. instead, he does everything he can, because even if its too late, maybe they'll remember the warm touch of an arm around their shoulder or a hand on their forehead or a strong voice telling them how to use that polishing rag or a hand around their wrist or the gentle dip in a bed and the subsequent warmth, and maybe they'll choose to stray from their Path. maybe they'll choose to cross that threshold and sit by his freezer and sleep away the time that he rests, and then when he comes out to them sleeping, maybe he'll get to hold them and gently put them in the freezer. gently make sure they're not dead. gently, lovingly, try to give what he can. (<- had trauma related nightmares again and just needs comfort)
