sleep was something hyejung would never stop loving. sometimes, her sleep would go overboard but who cares? what’s most important is that she even got to wake up from her sleep. (a bit dark, but it is true.) plus, sleep didn’t bother her all too much... it was what happened during sleep that makes her anxious. nightmares. it seems like she couldn’t get rid of them, no matter how hard she tried. hyejung even tried sleeping on her side, since she read in her textbooks that she was most likely to have nightmares when sleeping on her back. still, it didn’t work. was it the lack of sleep that made her think of things like this? who knows, but she needed sleep on this hour ride home. she just needed to set an alarm so that she wouldn’t miss her stop.
one thing that hyejung liked to do was to people watch (then again, who didn’t do that?) and she noticed someone across from her dozing off, but he was standing up. huh. that’s possible? to sleep while standing up..
she shook the feeling off, not wanting to stare at him for too long. her attention shifted to the people getting off the train before sprinting back to where the man was standing-- oh. he’s gone. oh well.
in the midst of trying to find the stranger, she realizes that he had just sat down across from her. they locked eyes and it was silent, her fingers intertwined with her own as thoughts raced through her head. i wonder how long he’s going to be on here. wow, he looks tired. i mean, i’m tired too. i felt that. he looks away after a while, causing hyejung to press the back of her head against the window so she could rest her eyes.
it didn’t take too long until the tiredness took over and drove her to a light slumber. her background was her grandmother’s house, yet her puppy wasn’t there. her grandmother wasn’t there either (big woop.) and she went through what she had been through the night before. she checked the rooms, there was no one there. she walked over to where her university was, a few minutes away from home. no one. it was eerie- cue the wind blowing in the background to keep up the atmosphere. hyejung lets out a sigh. alone, again.
she’s walking down the streets, pinching herself to wake up so at least there are people around her (even if they’re strangers.) she’d rather hear some noise coming from others over no noise at all. “it always ends up like this..” she mumbles, stuffing her hands in her pockets before kicking a pebble that was nearby. she didn’t look where she was going but she spots another figure, causing her head to lift and she tilts it slightly, a bit confused. did she know him? was there finally someone else other than her that’s in her dream? maybe he would play some kind of.. who knows.. harbinger before something tragic happened. her eyebrows furrow, recognizing the outfit he was wearing.
“oh, it’s you.” she mumbles. “i heard that even strangers appear in dreams, as long as you’ve made eye contact with them. huh.” she talks to herself, now walking away from him to explore the rest of her surroundings.
